It was a good game for a while... That was disappointing though.

Dallas is a better team.

11-29-2007, 10:23 PM
They tried to hang in there but we just couldn't stop them on defense. But what about big number 12!? He played well. Stuck to the basics and made good decisions. I don't know what the FUCK Favre was doing when he was in there. He kept throwing up the deep ball. Our bread and butter is the quick slant. I don't know.

We'll get 'em in the playoffs.

I agree. I'm not sure what Favre was trying to do, but it sure didn't work. I will give Rodgers credit. He looked much better than he has in the past, and against a difficult team. Too bad about that pass interference penalty. That was a bunch of BS. But as a die-hard Dallas fan, I have to say I'm happy with the outcome. I was expecting a complete blowout and the Packers impressed me by keeping it close. It was an enjoyable game.

Pointdsm
11-29-2007, 10:29 PM
I do agree, Rodgers looked damn good. I also agree, what the fuck was favre doing? He was resorting back to his usual tactics of "throw it up, and get an interception". Dallas is a better team now, but when/if Green Bay gets healthy, our defense will get ALOT better.

BTW, i had to work tonight, we didn't have a customer the ENTIRE time the game was on, so we just watched our 20" HDTV in the store and ate food all night, easiest night of work ever.

Greg86z28
11-29-2007, 10:40 PM
Favre knew he needed to score a lot of points. He knew it was going to be a shoot out. That's probably exactly why he was throwing it up. That's what he does. I respect it, the guy wants to do it all and win, but it's not always the best way. Hopefully he'll heal up on the long week and be ready to go for the Bears game. I hear he separated his shoulder.

yep packers lost...mainly cause we had 2 of our big d players out...woodson and kgb....that left a big hole..plus we have to get rid of atari bigby..he sucks at life. We are still going to the playoffs and we will meet up with them again and hopefully we will have a healthy team.

also barubabe...i told you awhile ago on here and i told your husband rodgers was good but you did not believe me
:)

11-30-2007, 08:45 AM
Just because Rodgers had one good game does not necessarily make him a good player. That would be like saying Favre had one bad game, so he's a bad player. Doesn't work. Yes, Rodgers had ONE GOOD GAME. Until he can play consistently at that level, I still stick with my former statement. He is a bad player...who had a good game.

And yes, Bigby needs to go. Talk about stupid penalties. He was playing worse than a high school player. Even they know what you can and cannot do!

helby
11-30-2007, 08:55 AM
ok whatever rodgers is good...so when he has 2 good games are you gonna be like...oh he had TWO good games..when he has three then maybe ill think he is ok. Well whatever he is good..got a hellofva arm..made some very impressive drives and throws...I am not worried a lick about when favre retires.:)

aren't nascar drivers overpaid douches to?

VPT
12-01-2007, 02:53 PM
Yes they are! There is no reason anyone playing a game or driving a car should be paid that much. High paying jobs are sposed to be for doctors, scientist, medical reaserchers, ect. Not for some fat fuck running around on a field.

Pointdsm
12-01-2007, 03:08 PM
But people pay to see it, so who are you say that they can not make that much money. Only way to stop them from getting paid that much, is to eliminate the fans, look at SCCA racing, there aren't fans, so there isn't money in it.

Greg86z28
12-01-2007, 03:33 PM
But people pay to see it

That's exactly right. Just like Doctors, people pay, so they get paid.

VPT
12-01-2007, 06:18 PM
That is my whole point. I don't support any of those fat bastards for playing a game that should be free in the first place.

There is nothing worse than hearing one of those slobs complaining that they aren't getting payed enough and want a better contract.

Dizmm, (Old Account)
12-01-2007, 06:31 PM
I'll agree with VPT, they should be paid half of what they are getting for playing a game. Yeah its hard work, but thats just like any job.

so vpt how many NFL footballs have you thrown or caught in a NFL game? NOne I assume unless there is something I do not know...So you wouldent have any idea how hard they work or how hard they dont work. Its a multi billion dollar business so many people ( who do not play ) make tons of money from people like me who go and watch and spend money and buy stuff. Just how it is. And you take one hit from a NFl player ( by the way they are not all fat asses or whatever) And see how you fare.

Don't give me that BS. If footyball was what I was into I could train every day and work out and be just as good as the loafers out on the nfl feild.

When it comes down to it it is still just a game that they get paid way to much to play.

Never wanted to play. I was however in baseball and my team went to state, I was lead pitcher.

barubabe1
12-02-2007, 09:51 AM
I agree, they are way over-paid. I do have to admire the players, though, who get contract extensions and go out and play twice as hard as they did before. Plus, I truly enjoy watching the players whose main concern is to play the game because they still love it. All that money-grubbing makes me sick. Why don't we pay people who really deserve the money...like teachers???

And, I see that the Packers just re-signed Nall. Shouldn't have gotten rid of him in the first place.

and a quote from mike mccarthy about rodgers injury ( was in point paper yesterday:

"We're kind of up in the air on how bad he did it," McCarthy said. "We don't know, because he's never had a hamstring injury. Usually when you have these types of situations, you have some history to work with. It's new for him. We'll see how he goes."

barubabe1
12-17-2007, 03:57 PM
Romo's thumb on his throwing hand is hurt, that's why he played like crap. Ball even slipped right out his hand once. Couldn't hook up with TO and that poor guy was really trying!

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the playoffs!

helby
12-17-2007, 04:26 PM
Its not just romos thumb..sure im sure that dident help but TO was sucking it up to. Dropping stuff...missing catchs...its typical TO...Later this week he will come out blameing everyone but himself for his performance...the quarterback..coach...whatever. TO is to concerned about ripping on other player..or former players..and romo is to concerned about jessica simpson. Dallas is going down hill ...making mistakes..becoming weak.

barubabe1
12-17-2007, 05:32 PM
Hmm, seeing as they have the same record as the Packers and have committed some of the same errors, I don't see how you can say they are going downhill or getting weak.

As for TO, he's getting better about not blaming anyone else for his mistakes, but as a receiver...if a ball is supposed to be in a certain spot at a certain time (called "running a route") and it ISN'T, then it is not completely the receiver's fault. Romo's thumb played a large role in him not being as accurate as he normally is.

As for Romo...who wouldn't be watching Jessica Simpson!

helby
12-18-2007, 08:13 AM
packers have gotten better and better each week...they have q great team that is just getting better.

TO will blame everyone else just watch. Some of those passes were in TOS hands and he dropped them...for example the tipped ball TO bobbled in the endzone of the packer game and harris intercepted it...he is doing that more and more....TO is a douche nozzle....And Romo is not the next brett favre....dallas blows nuts.

Greg86z28
12-18-2007, 09:31 AM
TO is an amazing athlete but he is inconsistent. It has haunted him his entire career, all the way back to San Fransisco. Personally I hate guys like him though. Shut your mouth and catch the fucking ball. They are all too wrapped up in themselves. Quit worrying about touchdown celebrations and do your fucking job. I love the fact how Chad Johnson was talking about all these touchdown celebrations and he hasn't done SHIT this year. Maybe he should have spent an extra minute in the weight room and an extra minute watching film instead of thinking about "touchdown celebrations".

Romo is having a great year, but let's see what happens for the rest of the season. Last year Romo totally botched the end of the season. And I'm not talking about the hold on the field goal. He threw like 5 interceptions or something and just had really weak quarterback play. HOPEFULLY, Dallas will lose to the Redskins on the last game of the season. I'm praying that the Redskins will be in a must win situation to get into the playoffs. The Redskins almost beat/should have beat Dallas earlier this season.

I really feel that if we somehow get home field advantage throughout the playoffs it's going to be a Green Bay vs Indy Superbowl. That's right, I'm picking Indy to beat New England.

Huh. And here I thought they scored at least one touchdown and got numerous first downs. Also, considering he hasn't quarterbacked in a game since 2004, I think he did quite all right.

helby
01-02-2008, 08:38 AM
guess we will just forget all those under or overthrown passes. only reason he got first downs and a touchdown was because the RECEIVERS stepped up...

barubabe1
01-02-2008, 09:46 AM
...which they apparently did not do for Rodgers. Argue all you want, Tyger...I still think Nall is a better quarterback, and if he gets all the opportunities that Rodgers had (and WASTED) I think he will prove himself quite nicely.

helby
01-02-2008, 09:49 AM
nall had over half a game to prove it..i was there he sucked it up! Rodgers is better..but hey maybe u r right...and every espn annalists and sports annalists is wrong...ok..that makes sense:)

barubabe1
01-02-2008, 10:55 AM
And Rodgers has had HOW MANY games and portions of games to prove himself and he had ONE good showing? That's what I thought. And I haven't heard any analysts ripping on Nall at all. Of course if you compare him to Favre, there IS no comparison, but I still think he's more reliable that Rodgers.

helby
01-02-2008, 12:47 PM

barubabe1
01-03-2008, 10:14 AM
Ok, yes, you played golf. I forgot about that. However, playing golf does not substitute for playing an organized TEAM sport in which you depend on other people for particular plays, etc. to work correctly...much like the receivers depend on the quarterback to at least get the ball in their vicinity where they can attempt to make a catch. Of course things don't always work out that way. Witness Brett Favre's other record of most interceptions. Yet people still consider him one of the best quarterbacks ever. Keep in mind, we're talking about Nall's performance in ONE game after having not played qb for FOUR years. Rodgers on the other hand has had several opportunities to play qb over the years but he can't seem to stay healthy or do anything remotely close to what an NFL qb should be able to consistently do, starter or not. Say what you will, helby, I still think Nall is much better than Rodgers. I may be proven wrong in the future, but that is my opinion based on what I have seen so far.

It's the playoffs now. There are games this weekend, next weekend, and then they have a weekend off and then it's the super bowl. Then it's all done.

Yep, the Patriots went 16 and 0. First team since the 72 Dolphins, who went 14 and 0, since they played fewer games. The Patriot's season won't mean shit if they lose in the playoffs though.

BCS sucks! Did you hear the rumor going around that USC was demanding a share in the National Championship even though they 1) didn't play in the NC game and 2) ended up ranked something like 8 or 9 at the end of the season? Some people apparently felt that b/c USC totally blew out the last team they played (in their bowl game) that they deserved half of the NC. Totally bogus in my opinion. Can't stand USC.

Pointdsm
01-08-2008, 11:09 PM
I disagree with giving them half the national championship, but i am willing to bet if there was a playoff, USC would have won. I think they are the best team in the country right now. Nuff with college football, ohio state just pissed me off, lets move to the packers.

The early games were damn good games, such as the Penn State game, it was awesome! I guess they did a national poll now, and over 85% of people believe a playoff is the best way to go now. Don't be surprised if it happens in the next two years.

There wont be a playoff system anytime soon. Too much money involved in the Bowl system.

Pointdsm
01-09-2008, 01:19 PM
They can keep the bowls, at least the BSC bowls. Just make them a playoff instead of single games. D2 and D3 football are playoffs, and it works really well. The regular season still kicks ass too!

Talk about a choke in the 4th quarter. Sheesh. Can't believe the Cowboys let that one slip away. Although I will say that the Giants simply played better in the 4th quarter. Felt bad for Romo getting sacked as many times as he did, and they were some hard hits too. Guess his line should have given him better protection. Did anyone see the clip of TO defending Romo afterwards? Glad to see the guy standing up for his teammate...I always knew TO could be a team player! And he's right...they lost as a team.

At any rate...GO PACKERS.

No, Green bay packers were built on local state players. Don't you root for your own team because they are sposed to represent wisconsin? How can they represent wisconsin if none of them are from wisconsin? May as well just be called team 1, team 2, team 3 and so on.

This country and everyting about it has gone to shit over the last 60 years. Did you hear chevy is cutting half of its work force and sending the work over seas? Are they still going to be able to have the built in america comercials?

But still it seams no one cares and thinks this country is great and all our leaders are doing a great job and we just go about our lives rooting for over paid non local yahoos that say they all care about the fans when all they really care about if the fans money in their fat assed pockets.

Most of the people whose eyes you're "trying to open" already recognize the weaknesses of our nation, but also realize that living here is a billion times better than living just about anywhere in the world. I once knew a grad student who taught overseas...she had the same opinions as you. Disliked the consumerism, hated the way the government was run, etc. etc. etc. And she kept extolling the virtues of the many places she had lived and taught. I asked her why she didn't just give up her citizenship and move to one of those other great countries permanently and she acted like I had just suggested she chop off her arm and donate it to Subway or something. "No way will I ever give up that blue passport" she told me. "The benefits and protection that it allows me are too priceless to ever let go." Yet she felt more than comfortable living in other countries, ripping on our country to all who would listen...AND taking advantage of the benefits that our country (which she supposedly didn't like) offered her instead of staying at home and working to bring about change. That's what I call a hypocrite.

As for not liking our country but not wanting to move, I feel the same way, but honestly what good can one single person do trying to make a change? You either have to be born into it, be around people who have already done things, or work some sort of miracle to get people to change by yourself.
Case in point: our president. I can think of 6 billion people who could be president instead of him, but a few people from his family fed him the job on a silver platter and here we are. Change doesn't come about from 1 single person, it can't. And if it does, congradulations, you get a day like today named after you and I hope you did some good.

And the universal health care is not all it's cracked up to be. I know of people who have had to wait months to get certain surgeries done, the facilities aren't all that great in many places, the lines in the ER are huge b/c so many people are using it for minor injuries that they could deal with at home...the list goes on.

But hey! If VPT thinks Canada is so great...I'm sure Dan and Jackie would love to have a roommate...if they ever get around to making that move.

And yes, VPT, one person can make a huge difference, even if it's in a little way. MLK Jr is one example but what about other people whose aren't given a holiday? There are hundreds of them; they are the unsung heroes that we often don't even hear about but they are the ones who ensure our freedom and way of life. And I'm not talking about just the military (although I do think very highly of that institution). I'm talking about every day people who report a crime, help an elderly neighbor, encourage a young person to pursue his/her dreams, etc. You only need to make a difference in one person's life to start a ripple effect. So instead of bitching on the computer about how terrible life is...once again...go out and do something worthwhile. You may not change the world, but you just might ease someone else's burden and be remembered for your kindness.

Got this in my email today from a friend and it just might MIGHT explain the mystery of the Packers to VPT...

> Seattle Post Intelligencer Jan 10, 2008
>
> GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It's easy to hate the New York Yankees if you're a Boston Red Sox fan, and vice versa. The same goes for the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins, Michigan and Ohio State and those originators of the shotgun formation, the Hatfields and McCoys.
>
> But who hates the Green Bay Packers?
>
> Steeped in tradition and often viewed through a prism of sepia-tone nostalgia, the Packers have succeeded against all odds in a tiny and remote market, in a 50-year-old (albeit renovated) stadium with aluminum bench seats, in an era of unfettered free agency and corporate greed.
>
> OK, if you're a Seahawks fan, you're not feeling all warm and fuzzy about Brett Favre and Al Harris right about now. "We want the ball and we're going to score!" might be old news, but the sting lingers.
>
> Really, though, do you hate the Packers?
>
> Not if you know anything about the history of the National Football League. Not if you've seen those grainy images of the 1967 "Ice Bowl" and Bart Starr's fateful quarterback sneak on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. Not if you admire the principles on which Vince Lombardi built a dynasty.
>
> Not if you pull for the underdog.
>
> In Wisconsin, there is no other option. You are born into Packerdom here. Your great-grandfather cheered for Curly Lambeau and Don Hutson, your grandpa for Paul Hornung and Willie Wood, your dad for James Lofton and Lynn Dickey. Every kid on your block owns a No. 4 jersey.
>
> What makes the Packers special? Start with the fact that there are 112,015 owners, the vast majority of whom hold one share of stock. Formed in the NFL's primordial mist in 1919, the Packers became a non-profit entity four years later and remain the only publicly owned team among the major professional sports.
>
> The most recent stock sale, in 1998, netted 106,000 new "owners" who paid $200 per share (and sent $24 million straight to the team's bottom line) for certificates that are basically worthless. The stock never pays dividends or appreciates in value. But the emotional investment is priceless. When general manager Ted Thompson signs a free agent, the fans can thump their chests and say, "I helped bring that guy to Green Bay." And it's true.
>
> Of course, Bob Harlan, who has run the Packers for 19 years, first as president and CEO and more recently as chairman of the board, has a stake in the team. He, too, owns exactly one share of stock.
>
> "I paid $25 for my share when I became president," said Harlan, who is retiring after the postseason. "When fans call me, they start out by saying, 'Bob, I'm a fan and a shareholder.' They always point out that they're shareholders. I say, 'Well, I am, too, so let's talk.' "
>
> Did we mention that Harlan answers his own telephone? There is no administrative assistant to run interference, no automated maze to negotiate. You've got a beef with the injured cornerback or the price of tickets, you go straight to the top dog.
>
> The fact that the Packers can even exist in a city of 100,000 is a minor miracle, due in equal parts to fan loyalty throughout the state and revenue sharing in the NFL. Los Angeles can't support a team but this little frozen outpost can? It's one of the mysteries of the universe.
>
> It helps that not much ever happens in Green Bay, other than what occurs at 1265 Lombardi Ave. Lambeau Field -- notice, no naming rights -- is the city's corporate and social epicenter, its source of civic pride, its very heart and soul.
>
> The nearest NCAA Division I football team is 2 1/2 hours away at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Milwaukee is 115 miles to the south, so the Packers are the only game in town.
>
> Their reach extends north into Michigan's Upper Peninsula, south into Chicago Bears turf and west clear to the Dakotas (the team had a 40-year head start on the Minnesota Vikings). And that doesn't count the fans who have relocated or the ones Harlan likens to the "Notre Dame subway alumni."
>
> "People call me and say, 'I'm a lifelong Packers fan and someday I'd love to see Lambeau Field,' " Harlan said. "They've never even been here."
>
> On game days, the far-flung Cheeseheads converge on Green Bay and fill the Lambeau parking lot hours before kickoff. First-time visitors are blown away by the passion, creativity and dedication of the tailgaters. There's nothing quite like the smell of 10,000 bratwursts sizzling on 1,000 grills and the sight of footballs spiraling through 10-degree air.
>
> The Packers-Seahawks game will mark the 268th consecutive sellout at Lambeau, including playoffs. That's every single game since 1960. The waiting list for season tickets is at 76,800. With an average of 70 fans per year giving up their seats, the guy at the end of the list will have to wait 1,000 years, give or take a few decades, for his name to come up.
>
> Season-ticket holders live in all 50 states and several foreign countries, including Japan. Domo arrigato.
>
> The obsession with the team is such that the 10 p.m. TV newscasts in Milwaukee and Green Bay are dominated by Packers developments. The long snapper has an ingrown toenail? That leads the sports report. The price of beer is going up at Lambeau? That's the top story.
>
> Brett Favre retires? We don't even want to think about that one.
>
> The Packers have won 12 championships, more than any other NFL franchise, and three Super Bowl titles. The team has sent 21 players to the Hall of Fame. Green Bay city streets are named after former players and coaches, including Mike Holmgren.
>
> But it's not about all that.
>
> It's about a unique relationship between a professional sports franchise and its fans.
>
> It's about people feeling they're a part of something special, something unique, something good.
>
> The Packers don't need throwback jerseys to evoke their glorious past.
>
> In all the ways that count, it's still 1965 here. And always will be.

Really I don't care about the packers or football enough to read that much.

If that was something about welding, cars, or had tits in the end I would be all about reading all that crap.

Really I don't care about the packers or football enough to read that much.. well considering she posted it for you to explain the question that YOU asked... it would make sense to read it, or shut your trap and stop asking questions that we all understand the answer to already  .

So what's everyone doing / where are you going to watch the Super Bowl tonight?

Not bothering to watch. Don't care to watch cheaters steamroll everyone. Funny how so many people out there seem to have forgotten that the Pats got caught cheating. Anyone can win if they cheat.

I really do not believe the Patriots are a deserving team of the "undefeated" title. I'd love to see the Giants put them in their spot, but realistically, a 4th quarter field goal from Tynes to win it would be their chance. The Giants have to keep up with the Pats, who have been a 30+ point team most of the time, and that'll be a struggle, but I'm rootin for the Giants all the way!

First...everyone cheats...its how it goes..even the packers cheat. pats just got caught.
second i almost threw up in my mouth when i saw the other day they want to do a us senate inquiry into if the pats cheated etc...what a bunch of bullshit.
third...could give a shit bout the superbowl now. seeing as the giants beat the pack and they were the team that could beat the pats...the giants better step up today.

go GIANTS!!

i think once they found out the Pats cheated... they should have suspended the whole institution and not let them finish the season. not so much to punish the players, as the coaches/owners who were involved. then all the lawsuits from the players would have been interesting though.

I agree. The fines they got were a little slap on the wrist.
