so here's the question. Due to the late un-popularity and low amount of racing or anything going on during the weekends, which night should we make the "Official CWSCC Race Night"?? I just doesn't seem like anyone is really looking to have fun on the weekends anymore. Bring the street cars out, talk smack to your next door neighbors, and make sure u'r not late. It seems like lately all i've seen is some people show up at the spot, talk their talk, and then go home at 12. It seems the racing enthusiasim we had last year has quite diminished. Cmon people!!!! lets get this shit hoppin!!

I was so upset after the Sunday autocorss, that I called the insurance company on Monday morning and had my insurance switched to comp only since I assumed my car was not going to see the light of day until next spring. I get home and apparently my car is fixed or close to being fixed. It really bummed me out that it was not fixed BEFORE Sunday. Anyways, I will not be racing this weekend as I don't have full coverage on my car now. I could call and switch it, but I'm sure Extreme won't let me take the car out until I pay him for fixing it and right now I already owe him a ton of $$.

I still do have a list of people that I would love to take out and I know my car could do it if I ever get to drive it again! I'm very anti DSM's right now. Should never have sold my Cougar!!

Anyone putting down power will agree that road I was on sucked balls. It was just fine for 12 or 13 second cars, anything faster than that without AWD will have trouble.

Go down to Chicago or another big city once. Ive been to the street races in NYC setup by the Small Block Posse guys, they are running 8 and 9 secopnd cars on the street, yanking the tires on their roads. I couldnt believe my eyes when they were riding wheelies on their streets. Now thats how a road should be prepped.

Comparing 13 second cars that can hook on that road to the cars on WSD is apples to oranges. Of course they complain, they are 9 and 10 second cars, how can you expect them to hook on unprepped roads?

Foci2ner, Just buy some VHT. I bought a gallon of it for a great price from Furo's. I think he may have a bunch in stock. Get a gallon and a garden sprayer, though you'll need some rubber on teh road also for it to really work.

No, not gonna bother. I'll just leave with this. The faster a car is, the more it breaks. The more a car breaks, the less "streetable"(in my terms) it is. A fast street car would be one that wouldn't mind racing from any stop light in town or on any highway. And a street car should be able to be driven daily on regular gas and get mileage of at least double digits. :wink:

388 whp and 425 wtq from 4 banger here, have never had anything break per say on the car besides the stock clutch after 37,000 miles of punishment, and several drag strip events. Will race at any stop light and on any hwy, Countless 160+ mph runs. 100% bone stock power train, block and internals. I've gotten as high as 38 mph and average mid 20's with my driving habbits. Oh yeah it's a "neon" on top of that.

No, not gonna bother. I'll just leave with this. The faster a car is, the more it breaks. The more a car breaks, the less "streetable"(in my terms) it is. A fast street car would be one that wouldn't mind racing from any stop light in town or on any highway. And a street car should be able to be driven daily on regular gas and get mileage of at least double digits. :wink: i might add the the streets are not normally prepped, so it shouldn't be expected. the car should be fairly consistant on the street, wherever it is. like DSM mentioned, any stoplight or any highways. don't forget that it should see STREET driving as well, other than 1-2 car cruises a summer, and 16 runs (4 miles) on a drag strip. like something you'd hop in to go grab some milk from the store, or run to the parts store with and grab some car parts (NOT for the car in question...) :lol: drive it to work everyday... then it's a street car.

I prefer roll races and not many other people do. Jake seemed to be the only one up for it this year. On a different note, I wouldn't mind joining Andy and Jesse in the sold category, but i'll never get even close to what I'd want for my car until i fix the bumper and repaint the car.

I'm out at shopco just about every saturday, and the events after. There is also another reason why I dont drive the car on the streets much lately that only select few need to know about. It's more of a personal issue has nothing to do with the car itself though.

If my cars not hoping to bad, I'm down for a roll race. Friday I don't work as late as normal so that night might work.

Thank you Andy, this is correct. I was going to do it that morning and show up at about 9:30, but I had to leave early with the truck full of tires. I have 18" rims, and my back seat became grounds for my camera mount. ( I dont have rods on my head rest like a lot of cars, so my cam mount goes onto the floor and rear setbelt mounts) I could not have fit 4 extra rims and tires in car if I wanted to. Also I drive a neon, not a dsm, I have a sub box, amps, strut tower bar, no hatch to open up, and no roomy lexus. Honestly why would I BS about something like that?

Basically, one is an L body one is a J body. They generally shared the same engine platforms, however I think the Cavi that Shorty raced was only a 4 cylinder and her car is the 3100 V6. Lot more low down torque to get her off the line.

however... look at what you've raced before... nothing fast. is your car an automatic? if so, you won't ever become much of a better straight line racer. other than figuring out an interesting launch, you're doing nothing but holding your foot to the floor for 16 seconds. no shifts to miss. if it's a 5spd, then you have some room for improvement is my guess.

on a side note, that 3100 V6 would be in the same engine category as Lexi, with her 3liter i6. might be a decent matchup huh? what night? i'm considering driving Pearl downtown one of these nights too. took care of a big boost leak last night.

Any drag racing automatic transmission or not will improve your skills. A big factor in drag racing is the launch. The more practice you get at that the better.
like i said, the launch is where it's at. however, for an auto trans, other than the launch, please explain how i can get better at drag racing a 16second automatic car.

i can definetely understand that an automatic transmission in a sub-10second car.... there is probably a lot more to learn and practice. but the car in question is a 16sec Corsica. other than the launch... there isn't much to do.

Reaction time for one comes to mind.. being consistant at your launch, and shift points. I would LOVE for one of you guys to say there is no skill required after trying to launch my car with the TCS off. :o

and i think TK meant ANY racing is good practice, auto or manual. i still fail to see how holding down the gas pedal teaches me anything (other than at the launch)

Drag racing with a slower automatic car is pretty much all launch. Any practice is good practice. The more racing you do the more confidence you will gain making you a better driver. Even with a 16 + second car.

All races up to this date are now final and no official challenges will be accepted.

I looked out the window this morning and saw a little bit of snow. Roads were dry however. As I drove to work I get to an intersection and I'm like man look at all the snow. Kind of weird how all the snow collected at an intersection. Upon closer inspection I noticed it was fxcking salt. ($%*&#$^!#$*&(%@&$# bastard salted the roads for no reason. Arrrggghhh. Thus ends our racing season. Winter beater racing begins!
