Feb. 11th CWSCC Lake DuBay Event #5 Results Post #76

Looking at the long range weather forecast it looks like we may be able to have another event on DuBay. Saturday is looking best right now so we're going to have a Saturday afternoon/night event. Of course please keep an eye on this thread for updates and event status.

Schedule:
Registration - 2pm - 3pm
Practice - 2pm - 3:30pm
Drivers meeting - 3:45pm
First car out - 4:00pm



Where:
Lake DuBay. Boat landing at the corner of County Road DB and County Road C in Knowlton, WI.



Trophies awarded at the end of each event.



Cost:
$20 for CWSCC Members / $30 for Non-Members
($20 to become a 2012 CWSCC Member)

auto show (http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/about_the_show/) is feb 10 - 19th at McKormick Place.

Motorcycle Show (http://www.motorcycleshows.com/chicago) is from the 10th - 12th at the Stevens Convention Center.

The auto show is ok, but a day on the ice is more fun. Never been to the motorcycle show before, plus they've got good deals on gear as well as the bikes themselves.

So while you were still in high school learning the effects of alcohol and trying to loose your virginity, I was out kicking ass at the racetrack and on dem streets youngin. On a more serious note, my wife has never told me I couldnt race. That was my choice, just so we clarify that, which is dumb that I even needed to do.

It's too early to tell. It was above freezing today so an accurate report on the ice condition cannot be made yet. It is supposed to be much colder than freezing for the next few days.

We'll have enough ice, just not sure on the condition (smoothness) of the ice.

Checked out the ice tonight.

It's rough in a lot of parts, the heaving is worse with smooth as glass glare ice in some of the corners. Not a whole lot of fun to drive on. Not Corvette spec.

If you have a nice car I'd stay away from this one. The studded cars are going to have a hell of a time negotiating the track. Can't configure the track without having rough sections.

The oval is in good shape. Corvette spec. We could do a course on the oval like in the past, but it's not something I'd travel a long ways to participate in. The banks on the oval are hard so caution must be exercised.

This is what we are going to do. We're not canceling the event. I'll be there at 2pm. Participants can check out the track and if they want to run timed laps we'll set up the timing and cones and do a For Fun event.
