I was thinking you probably ran out of gear unless you run it to 8k.

Yeah i did run out of gear i was at 165 indicated for the last 1/4 at least.. thats about what i crossed the line at too, so my speedo was off by about 5 at those speeds as well.
Looking at my dyno charts power falls of pretty quick at about 7600 as well my rev limiter is currently set at 7800 so it will be interesting after this winter to see if it improves at all

honestly i could care less how much anyone spent on a car. The viper always been my dream. I like the s2000 i had and after 10k spent into it, it was faster than my viper. Was it reliable, yes and no, yes because the engine itself, no because the turbo took a shit at blackhawk. AND with all that mods why isnt my time beat? i was hoping it would get beat so i can do another one w the mods i got done which i should probably hit 175mph

Even with repairs, and upgrades I don't have 25k into my EVO, not sure if I even have 20k into it. I had less than 23k total invested in the SRT 4, including the cost of the car and all mods. Smiles for cheap speed!

As for for evo's vs vipers etc. I think its awesome to have a viper in the area. But i'm the kinda guy that likes to cheer for an underdog. If someone had a honda civic that could do the standing mile in 175, that would be awesome!

If you want to talk shear cost and performance, built a turbo big block and dump it in a stripped chassis or buy a big liter sport bike and mod it. to each their own

Yeah the neons drive so much better,,, I dought this is true anymore but the last viper i drove i believe it was a 96-99ish was about as horrible a vehicle to drive as i can remember the pedals were off to the side too close together the interior was hot as could be because of the exhaust it rattled worse then my unstable 4banger wouldnt go into reverse and the view of the road from the cockpit could not have been worse i wouldnt have any confidence driving that car hard. But a bargain for 25k almost 1/3 the cost of a new one ,, talk about depreciation.

I have driven a 1st gen. Viper and have the same feelings as GetSideWays.

Around a race track - equal tires - I'd take the 2nd gen. Viper over an EVO. They are supposed to be track monsters.

mine is a gen 3 tom. first were 400hp rt/10 then 96 450hp gts came out. then gen 3 in 03. yes gen 2 werent the greatest factory setup bit lil mods on the suspension you are good to go. but like tom said the gen 3 are set up to be on the track. the tires i have and stock suspension at autobahn only squeeled once around turn three if you watch my video on the other thread bc i was testin its limits and by far more than expected. and we will have a set up date to see how this goes. cam tune and maybe headers and coilovers next year but i can wait after gsw and i run on my stock suspension and current mods.
