Well its a 94 honda, 1.6l sohc vtec.
Idles great about 800-900rpm, when you give it any gas itll go up to about 1500 and sounds like its choking on itself and dies.

double checked the timing
compression is 150 across the board
head has been redone, (havent double checked the valve lash yet since the machine shop redid it that'll be my next thing if anyone else has no opinions)
spark plug wire order is correct, plugs are new and were gapped to factory specs.
coil is new disty is set properly with the timing. checked for obvious random vac leaks, it would have to be an insanely big leak to make it run like this though..

any ideas on what else to look for?

fuel pressure?

does it have a cat, if it does, do a exhaust backpressure test between the engine and converter, a plugged converter will do what you describe

its actualy running without a cat, i didnt check fuel pressure yet. the car did run great until the head gasket went.. I guess ill add fuel pressure to the testing for when i get back from out of town./

Do you have a CEL?

Are there any unhooked sensors? You said you just did a headgasket.

also check mode 6 if you dont have a CEL yet, have you ran a smoke machine just to make sure that there wasn't any vacuum leaks. Is there an issue with the VTEC controller.

Map sensor and TPS are the same connectors and many people switch them and not know it.

those two connectors were indeed backwards!! car revs like a champ.. just gotta spend some time changing fluids and adjusting the valves tomorow and its done :).. i was gone all week otherwise i would be driving it already!
