It gets driven, just not much. We grenaded the trans in Febuary, and the car underwent major "surgery". Kastens put the trans back together for us, and I recently found out it has no fifth gear, so they are fixing it yet again as it is their mistake. I hadnt had it on the highway or anything since summer, so we had no idea until a week or so ago. Now its just a matter of getting the car in there on a day that my fiance has off and I dont have my little guy.

It should be done in time, if not, I am going to try and get Stephs grandpa to trailer it there for us.

Would a stock ride height evo go on this course?? Or is that too low?

That is a good question. I've only driven around in this field a little bit so this question cannot be answered at this time.

I'd like to get a track set up. Then I can answer this question for sure, but if things go like they should a stock EVO will be OK.

Can you post some pictures of the course/field next time you go out there? Sounds like this might put quite the beating on the car/suspension and possibly the bumpers...

What time will this go till?

I'm thinking of driving up from Milwaukee early Sunday morning for this.....

Is it kinda like this?:

It will run until at least 3pm or so. Depending on how long competitors want to keep driving.

TomKat
11-06-2011, 07:10 PM
There is a video on facebook on my wall or whatever you call that. I have no idea how to post it here.

We went out there today to scope things out and rough in a course. Key word is rough. It's rough and there is no way to get around that.

It's a grassy field, but it gets dug up quickly. I bought a $300 car to run at this event. There is no way I'd take any kind of nice car on this course.

If you watch the video that track is rather small. We had a bigger section that went behind some trees, but after running it at speed we ruled that section out. Too rough.

Not sure if I want to go ahead with this event. What do you guys think? I've been to some WAG rallycross events that have been this rough. Not sure if it would be worth going through with it though.

Just flattening it with a tractor is not all that easy if its pretty rough.... the bumps just transfer threw with the blade/bucket.... what happened to the land leveler thing??? That field looks to be about as bumpy as our 13 acre field at my grandparents

TomKat
11-06-2011, 10:12 PM
The land leveler will only work if it's loose dirt. It won't cut through grass.

A tractor won't do anything.

SgtRauksauff

IF the disc isn't set too deep, you can skim the top to cut down the bumps. We're not tilling to plant, we're just knocking off the tops. It should leave a little bit of loose dirt on top, but the hard-packed stuff underneath should be smooth enough to run on just fine, excepting large rocks.

alternatively, a drag rather than a disc is less invasive into the topsoil, and might take down the bumps. or fancy-schmancy equipment.

how heavy is the equipment we've got available? if the course is plotted, and we drive over it a bunch, some of the bumps could be knocked out by repetitive travel. or maybe find the bumps, park the car on it, and dump the clutch on the bump so the wheel takes it down?

My bet is borken DSM.... (Andy is driving it after all, and we all know his record with other peoples cars :)

Just so everyone knows, i recieved a picture of the Rusty Roller today, and, to be quite honest, ya'll should be scared! it will dominate! HAHA

Looks like I will be coming over just to watch. No driving action for me this weekend. The jeep risks blowing out the fuel tank from the rear suspension and only have bald tires suited up for the duster.

What do you need for tires? I got some.

Hell if you have 15" wheels Dizmm has a set of rally tires.

Im working on it. Last I knew, they were done and I was supposed to either have them emailed to me, or hand delivered on a CD. The other idea was to have him give the CD to my neighbor that works with him, and I would get it from him. None of that has happened. I have no idea whats going on at this point. I am really trying. You'd think if someone stood outside for hours with a camera, he would want to show off his pics....
