I am looking for a way to modernize the tail-lights for my '02 Saab 9-5.
I'd love to get some euro-style lights for it, but I haven't had any luck finding them online. Can you manage plastic work? I'm sure the stock tail-lights would be fine, if a clear lens can be molded from them.

Can't do anything like that, sorry.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can really do. Besides tint them. The only lighting changes you can make on almost any Saab (besides changing bulbs) are turn signals and fog light kits.

I was afraid of that. All I get are sites that have "universal" parts whenever I try to find anything other than stock.

Don't really want to tint them, because that would decrease the brightness. I think the bracket for the HID headlamps from the same year will fit, because the lens is separate, it's just a matter of ordering them.

I'll have to look for that company that makes custom ones.

HID headlights are simple, just get the ones off amazon or ebay. and wire them up. That's what i did in my '05 9-3...no sense in paying $500+ for facotry HID's when there's already a projector housing.

Depends on how you tint them.....vinyl or Nightshades(which is JUNK), will decrease light output. What I do, is mix a few drops of black paint in with some clear. With decent prep, it will hold up forever, and light still shows through like factory. Now, Its kind of a guessing game as to how many drops to put in, and you cant do too many quotes....so its just kind of a "fuck it and huck it" sort of thing. Once you do it a few times though, you get a feel/eye for it.

I've been eyeing up the rear lights from the 9-3 with the factory "frosted" tail-lights... I think they could actually fit, with some minor adjustments. I'm calling the Saab dealer to find out if they'll bolt in tomorrow. If they will, then problem solved for the rears.

My other project is LED strips to give it a bit of an Audi DRL treatment. I also thought about putting white LED bars next to the fog-lamps, but I think that could be overkill. The challenge comes when I try to wire it all in so it works like stock, with no extra toggles in the cabin of the car.

Eventually I will try and take this Saab to a level not normally seen, but money forces baby steps, lol.

So by a level not normally seen, you mean you're going to rice out your car?

No, I prefer to think of it like doing an AMG treatment.
Minor upgrades to the looks, major upgrades to suspension.
I'll probably leave the engine and transmission alone...

No fart-cans are coming near my car either.
