This Sunday is the Fastest Streetcar Shootout at WIR, which, by the way, has NO AFFILIATION with Brian Peterson (TuffEnuff) or Real Street Drags (lol).

Anyway, it looks like its gonna be Test & Tune all day long starting at 9:30am, with the Shootout starting at 1. I'll be there spectating since I broke at RSD, is anyone else going down?

Fastest street car on a track? That doesn't make sense. More Matt-ematics at play here. Another simulated "real street" event. I say to hell with going to the track at all. It unrealistic.

If they closed the long straight road used to enter the pits and marked off a 1/4 mile there then they might have something. To make it even more realistic they should hold the event rain or shine.

I agree, they need to stop calling it street drags and crap, because its not on the street! They could call it fastest street car on a prepped track. But then only allow cars that are street cars, and not a trailer queen. But even then that’s arguable.

they'd have to have some kind of authority there to say what is "street legal" and what is not. tires would have to be DOT approved, exhausts couldn't be over X decibals, working headlights/taillights, etc.... it's too questionable as to what is street legal and what is not. technically any exhaust modification is NOT legal. so right there 90% of the crowd just got dinged.

They do have all that. they handed out a flyer about it at dropfest. You also need to take a 10-20 mile driver or something. My car wouldn't qualify because i have slick...not DOT radials.

Sounds like a really cool event. I like the idea.

Christ, how did I know some of you fvckers would bitch about the street racing thing. Where does it say anything about street RACING? It says street CARS. Its a shootout for fast street cars, and there are plenty of street CARS that dont race on the street. The rules are set to try and accomodate as many street cars as possible, nothing to do with legal laws, as 98% of the hot rods on the street are illegal according to the book. The 30 mile cruise is to weed out any race cars that will overheat or not start after stop & go traffic, and they must run on 93 octane pump gas, so that eliminates ALOT of the racecars at the track. I suppose, next will be someone saying my car isnt a streetcar because of all the illegal parts on it.

Slicks are allowed, in the Outlaw class. I guess there will just be more runs for everyone else since some of you "hardcore bad ass street racers" won't be attending.

Swing by if you get a chance. I'll be there spectating, as my car is down for the count for a while after Friday night.

Us AWD cars should do very well in the other class(not outlaw), given traction isn't a huge issue for us on a track. I'll look into this, i agree with TK, this actually sounds decent.

TK, if you want to go, i'm going to try and get off work for sunday and try this thing, do some sport compact racing.

I don't hate WIR. I've been drag racing there for almost 5 years now. I've come to dislike how its run, but i will continue to drag race because of the passion i have for my cars. and I will go to WIR because it is the most practical track for me to go to(distance and price wise).

Looks like someone mustve gotten picked on over the mic at RSD or something, awful lot of hatred towards the track. Maybe his car was just slower than he thought it would be or something?

Maybe his car was just slower than he thought it would be or something? i doubt either are the case... if i'm not mistaken track prep, pit area, and organization are his main beef. but that's just what i've picked up on from reading his other approx 100 posts regarding his dislikes for WIR.

I get picked on all the time but it doesn't bother me. People that don't have their shit together bother me. Brians mouth doesn't bother me. His lack of organization does.

I had serveral legit complaints that I brought to the attention of the WIR staff. I even followed up with a written letter to WIR management. They did nothing, not even a reply. Doing nothing is what they do best I guess. Years later, customers are still complaining about the same issues.

The above piss poor business plan only intensifies my hatred for WIR management and the events held there. They will never see another penny of mine.
