There isnt much that can be said negative about Brian's RSD prep. Guys are pulling 1.3x short times, if you cant hook on an RSD night, youre either following street tire cars through the water or you have chassis issues.

I know he's a big fan of WIR, lol.
I dont remember all his complaints, I know a big one was the rocks in the pits. God knows I agree with him 150%.
I also know he doesnt care for Brian's mouth on the microphone. Again, I agree, he has been alienating(sp?) the import crowd for years now.
Unfortunately, WIR doesnt give us much for opportunities to race, GLD is too damn far, and Rock Falls, so I'm told, isnt too big on track prep, but they are big on tech, which will give me problems. I can't get through NHRA tech at GLD with my illegal fuel lines, though I may take it down there and try, I'll have to let off before I go through the traps so I dont hit 11.49 and get kicked out.
Some of us dont have much choice, if we want to race at the track for a timeslip, WIR it is.

Hmmm. Interesting. One thing to note though at WIR you CANNOT drive around the water box. In the past the cars with slicks backed into the water box. That seemed to work much better in my opinion.
Being forced to drive through the water blows. If you have an AWD car launching at the strip it is similar to racing on a rain soaked road.

Thats true, and we bitched about that too. For us RWD guys, its not a real big deal, but I can see where it would be for AWD if they can't burn their water off.

Personally I don't think there should be any track prep or water box at all. Furthermore, all participating cars should be registered.
In my mind its retarded to compare RSD to a street drag.
BadAss88GT
07-30-2007, 01:27 PM
Why no track prep?
You realize that theyve been prepping roads for years in the cities where street racing is huge? Not talking about stoplight to stoplight shit, but real street racing.
TomKat
07-30-2007, 01:51 PM
You can compare RSD to street racing. Some people don't want the risk associated with the street action and I don't blame them at all.
Of course RSD had it's place and so does street action. On the street there are really no rules other than a gentleman's agreement. If someone wants to prep the street they can.
The first time I saw a team prep the street after the Rapids Car Cruise I was like: What the hell. But those guys from Neilsville cleaned house that year.

I have no problem with people running slicks and open headers. If you can get away with that on city streets then by all means go for it. But I would never agree to someone spraying glue on the road. If its not part of your car then its not part of the game.
Track action with full prep and a trailered car is a track drag event not a real street drag. I'm not against drag racing at the track but I think its silly to pretend is legal street racing.

i'm guessing most of the cars at RSD have NOT raced on the street. i can understand trailering them there, because some people come from a long distance... but then again, people rarely trailer their cars to a street race... so if this is Real Street Drags... trailer queens are out.
BadAss88GT
07-30-2007, 04:50 PM
Well, I can see all the points. I have trailered my car to the track, only after I got stranded last year at WIR when I exploded the rearend and had to go back the next day, but I'm back to just driving it to the track and taking my chances, its too damn expensive to tow it there.
I dont think many will dispute mine being a street car, that's been proven. However, when I come back down to have some fun, I certainly will be spraying the road to help me hook, at least until I figure out how to put AWD on my car.

I have been to a few RSD's to watch, seems like a lot of waiting in line. I ran at a few rock falls test and tune day and a fun run day, both had an awesome time, got in as MANY runs as possable without much wait at all. Only thing I did not like is when next to a full out drag car and not being able to hear your engine to know what rpm your at (pre-DSMlink days).

Who said you dont get a slip? I was in Pro Tree lane, you still get a slip. You can even street race off a tree and get a slip, set something up to give the guy or take the hit after the tree comes down. Let the tree go, and wait till he gets 2 cars out, then go. I guess my point is, there arent many opportunities for those of us that want to run at the track with awesome track prep and get a time slip, so we had RSD. Ive tried Friday night HS Night, track prep sucks. I havent tried Saturday night brackets yet, but from what I'm told I'll probably only get 3 passes before I'm out. That leaves RSD, but its no good for T&T because they give preferrance to the street race guys, so to take advantage, a guy stays away from the time lanes and either run Pro Tree or street races.
Believe me, I've been as pissed as you, Ive been doing RSD since the beginning. I figured out the way to make passes.

But shit, if me and everyone else in lane 3,4,and 5 knew that we could just pick a buddy and hop in that lane and still get a slip, don't you think almost EVERYONE would have done that? And trust me, that lane just looks like the VIP lane to everyone else.

The track is really unfair and bias, and poorly run on an RSD night to say the least. the only thing i can give them credit for last night is getting done with the high school'ers rather quick. but once again, it wasn't on the schedule that it was going to be RSD and high school all in the same night, poor planning.

Thats the thing, its not advertised as a T&T, never has been. They say over and over again on the PA, RSD is not a T&T. They run time runs because guys come to race and there are hardly no street races, so they just run to fill the time.
