Yeck....looks like you got a fancy paperweight now.

Couple of things.....

-04-06 all used the VF39

-07 was a VF43, which is pretty much the same turbo as the 39, but with thicker castings in the WG to prevent cracking(it didnt work), and a stiffer WG to prevent boost creep. It could be used on your car, but make sure you swap the brass vacuum pill in the line coming off the compressor and the wastegate can to the new turbo if you go that route. The 07 used a different pill/wasegate and will cause your car to freak out.

Hopefully this helps you in your search. It kinda broadens things. :)

That being said, there have been a ton of both turbos on Nasioc lately, and cheap. You may want to look there. I may also know a guy who may have a VF39(05 car) FS. I just have to ask him when its coming off.

Thanks, i'll keep that in mind.. Either gonna be a stock replacement or bump it up to an FP green... just don't know if i wanna drop the cash or make my daily a monster....

idk that I would go green....maybe a nice 18 or 20g. You would still make some power down low then and still be able to autocross the car. FP had its issues in the past. Its your car though :)

Also, they dont seize turbos that often....when you replace your turbo, take the oil feed line for the turbo the rest of the way off the motor and check that damn filter inside the banjo bolt(on the motor side). IDK if you know or not, but those like to clog over time.

^ I agree , if Autox is your main interest then the stock turbo is plenty .
These motors dont like high RPMs and the best powerband is with a stockish sized turbo .
I hope your still enjoying the car even though you've had a couple issues already ,I miss mine all the time.

yeah im probably just going to go with the stock one.. i don't forsee making it a monster or anything much over stage 2... And oh hell yea im enjoying it!! well i was when it ran.. soon enough again tho. Thanks to Mr. Andy it sits an inch higher and doesn't ride like a freakin hay wagon anymore... And getting a taste of studs on it last night.. well that was rediculous! thats all i have to say about that!!!!! :)

A little bird told me a TD04 on a EJ25X with a 38mm EWG makes full boost by like 2300 rpms.....and will walk away from most any "STG2" STi. Just sayin....

edit: not sure how well the above combo would work with a 6 spd car though....I think your arm would get tired and fall off.

Remember....Subaru's use that stupid 3 bolt flange on a stock location turbo....I'd be willing to bet that AR is either a Chrysler bolt pattern or a basic four bolt.

Shane-I talked to my buddy about his turbo. Hes still not sure when its coming off.

I would definitely keep your eyes on NASIOC for sale or part out threads for a stocker.

I wish I was done with the remodeling crap so I can get mine running, it's too cold to go outside now anyways though, especially to work on a car!

Also, I know the feeling of hay wagon, mine is slammed as well and has just about every suspension piece stiffened. What wheels do you have? I love gold on black!

Yea there are lots on nasioc but I have a leed on one locally that I'm going to check out this weekend. And as far as wheels I just have the stock bbs goldielocks, I too love the gold on black! Hopefully I can get this biznatch up and running this weekend. Have to defend my awd all season title with fvscc!

I have heard they are hit and miss, and I know a few DSM guys that have had luck with them using oil restrictors. I personally just wouldnt risk it.
