wow you took a hole lot more apart than i do when i do a timing belt/water pump and tensioner/rollers on those,, i can do those less than 2 hours, but i have done easily 100+ of them,, you would never make warranty book time taking that much apart!

ive done a few dozen of them in the last year and ill agree you took way more apart than you needed to lol.. Its not too bad of a job though.. Just be glad you dont have a DOHC V6 audi.. them are a bitch of a time mainly due to havin to remove the valve covers to lock the cams in place with a $600 specialty tool, also have a tool that locks the crank in place

lol... thats what I wanna do when I have to do one of those..
They have a common problem with little O rings that lock into the cam towers behind the actual cam seal that leak and cause alot of issues, theres probably a dozen different little O rings that you need to replace when u do the belts on there just because your in there.. thats what makes it a pain in the ass!
Burn all german cars, im so fuckin sick of workin on them

True. But you can rent that tool out form many places local and on the internet for literally a few bucks. I helped a friend do a timing belt on his Audi S4 last Fall and it was pretty simple. The above job was torn down way way more than needed. We finished the whole thing in a little over 3 hours including a little goofing around.
It was the first time we did one.

I'm throwing the bullshit flag on this one.
Just an example of how difficult VWs are to work on: If you disconnect the battery you have to take the car back to the dealer to get it running correctly.

This is VERY true!! The ABS light is the main light that will stay on and you have to send in the modual or go to a dealer to get it reset when the battery dies. My neighbor at the shop has a VW Bug and the battery has died on him 2 times and he gets so pissed off at it. I was able to clear all the other lights on the dash with my new scanner but not that one.

when the battery dies it fucks with the throttle and you have to do a Throttle Adaptation on it to get to run right again.. sometimes that needs to be done others it doesnt..
But you just need to find a shop that has factory VW scantool.. I dont know of any besides Foreign automotive(my employer) around here that has one besides the dealership!

Look into the ABS Control Module.. they are known for having problems and going bad on them.. Theres a few places that sell rebuilt ones with warrantys just like new.

Yeah mine went bad a few years ago. Sent it in for rebuild($150), plugged it back in, no problems since.
I pulled the battery from my S4 last Fall and took it in to get exchanged for a new one. Few hours later I popped in the new one and everything was fine. Not sure why anyone would want to take their car in for a checkup after a dead/new battery.
