I will not be there. I will be spending time with my best friend for her birthday.

Sorry guys, no food unless someone else will take over.

The pizza at GSS worked out really well. So maybe someone can get pizza halfway through the day at Shawano??

If someone wants to be in charge of the pizza on Sunday in my place send me an IM.

I'm headed back to Neilsville today. I found a ton of mountain biking trails out there and a couple of us are going to go hit a few. If you want to tag along give me a call. It may be wise to bring a helmet and gloves.

Had a blast at the shawano event yesterday. Perfect day for it. I can't wait for the some ice events.

Also, The Dellman wanted me to say he would be in for the lapping day on the 7th, so was Kyle with the Mazdaspeed Miata, and after yesterday I would really want to make that event too.

I have a few pictures that I took from yesterday, you can creep them on facebook. I will eventually post them on here, it just takes forever.

You might want to get new tools. Wheel studs messing up is not a normal occurance. And in the last year wheels studs have gone bad on 3 cars that your tools have touched.

While I appreciate the concern, the tools are not the issue. Stretching a wheel stud is actually very common, on a stock EVO wheel stud under track conditions. Several people have even had lug studs shear off. ARP studs are made for this very reason. The tools touch the lug nuts not the studs, I' have never had a problem with any of my lug nuts.

If the question was a concern for the torque of the wheels, that can be put to rest also as I have had to replace my torque wrench earlier this year. If you are referring to the issue you had with your Civic. I would also find it hard to blame the tools. I recall there being improper type of lug nuts used, various types of miss matching lugs, missing lugs nuts completely, tuner lugs on OEM wheels, OEM lugs on tuner wheels. Also cheap aftermarket lug nuts.

Yes my VIII did have a similar issue, with a stretched lug stud, however the only two variables there were constant would be OEM wheels being tracked hard on OEM studs. Completely different tools were used between this year and last year. I am also guilty of another contributing factor.. I have a habit of running my car hard at the end of a lapping day, then changing out my wheels while the studs, and hub lugs are all steaming hot. I've done this and I know the effects of doing so.

ARP studs are engineered to handle both the shock loads (shear) common to drag racing and side loads (elongation) of road course activities.

Heat makes lugs like butter. you torque'em down just fine. when they cool, they contract, exceeding the tensile strength, and then snicker-snack, they're gimbling in the wabe.

Yep, exactly what he sorta, kinda said. :) In my case though it's the studs that are doing the stretching.

What are you torquing them down to? I set mine at 75 ft/lbs and they have never come loose or caused any damage.

The FSM calls for 88 ft. lbs.

I said lugs, not lug NUTS. lugs=studs. :)

I could have swore the manual was 73 plus or minus 7 making 80 the absolute highest you should go. No reason at all to go higher than that.

If you are running them to 88 cold its probably well over that when glowing hot. Just saying....
