Jarred in the purple 350z whats to know if you could make him some test pipes for his car. He said he'll trade you the cats for the pipes, or he will throw you some cash, which ever. Let me know.

Bad, bad idea if he plans on ever selling the car. :(

keep the stock cats though, makes selling a car so much easier, especially cosidering how austin and jared are influenced to want a different car every week you see them.

they sell those at the store for like $5, or offer treated wood for like $4.

but why not an aluminum door sill.... it won't corrode when you drag in the salt.

wait, VPT won't drag in any salt, he doesn't leave the house enough

VPT
12-22-2008, 10:42 AM
lol, They don't sell flat thresholds at the store, only ones with seals in them.

Plus you get what you pay for, I for one love the look of aluminum welds and I don't think there are any threshold companies that have nice visible welds on them.

When the store doesn't have what you need the only alternative is custom.

You should know this, they have cheap .25 cents a pack stickers at walmart along with 15.00 tint.

Yeah, I love it. It's a really stellar job. The flex pipe just in front of the resonator is rotting a little bit, barely a noticeable leak, but this weekend Andy will be replacing that, too, because I'd rather not have it sitting and rotting even more than it already is, so it should sound just a little bit nicer yet.

Why not buy a set of those stickers you can put on your calipers to show brake temp. Run it without and then with and check the temps?

EVILUTION
03-03-2010, 09:22 PM
Most people complain about the 2" kits. I'm not sure a 3" could cleanly fit. I just need a little more than NOTHING so the 2" kit would be fine for me.

Dizmm
03-03-2010, 09:24 PM
brake coolers suck, even the small 2inch shit will just get in the way, tear, and snag on everything. be sure to bring Duck tape with you everywhere so you can fix them every few hundred miles.

EVILUTION
03-03-2010, 09:39 PM
I somewhat agree with that. In fact they aren't really needed. Most people can just take an extra cool down lap which is probably good for the oil temp as well. But if I could find a cheap enough kit I would like to experiment with them.

^ I bet those won’t last too long. I can hardly fit the single 2in ducts through and around my dust guards. Another thing those brake coolers really hate is a wide wheel. and I don’t think brake coolers are necessary until you start to run a very sticky and/or wide wheel. Its a crap shoot. I bet those little plastic fin things would do more.

I plan on doing maybe the one lapping day this year at BHF, is it really worth all that money/time/hassle just to not have to push it 100% for 10+ laps.

if you really want some brake coolers evil, you can have mine in exchange for some BBS wheels or something...

VPT
03-04-2010, 08:39 AM
All the problems I hear sounds like installation error. Anything will give you problems if you install it with a don't give a crap attitude. If you take the time to route the tubes and fasten them well there should never be a problem.

Space, there is not enough of it. the Driver's side is ok, but hadly any room on the other side with the oil cooler there. Even then, with wide wheels and when fully turned, they almost always rub.

Dizmm

titanium?

ragdoll
03-24-2010, 11:40 AM
Titanium conducts heat well but it doesn't dissipate as quickly as aluminum(or copper, but too soft/expensive for the application) does.

Dizmm

for one its the heat shield for the ABS, plus it helps with the flow of air keeping the center of the rotor a low pressure zone.

How do you like how it turned out? Was it hard to do? I for some reason think a cage would be hard to make.

VPT
05-11-2010, 12:24 PM
A cage is a pain in the ass to make. Not only trying to make precise bends, lengths, and cut angles but the fucking positions a man has to endure while welding is insane.

His dad owns East Side Autobody in Waupaca so Nick grew up around Paint. The guy can do some awesome airbrush work, and has painted that focus like 3 different colors already. I am not sure how he is going to paint it or what color yet, but as soon as he does I will snag some pictures.

I am tempted to pull the valve cover from my crx to have something done. It got messed up by the hood in one little tiny spot and it bothers me so it would be an excuse to fix it and have something cool done.
