Possibly. I've put a few miles on it and burnt up most of the 6 year old gas in it. It's running pretty damn good so far, just has a bit of an erratic idle due to the old gas. Also, it's still shooting soot covered acorns out of the exhaust! LOL, stupid critters...
It's been about 4 or 5 years since I've had a manual vehicle, but no biggy!

I don't kill spiders, I like spiders, they kill other bugs.

More than likely I won't race it just yet. I have about 15 miles on the new engine so far, and all is well. Ideally, I would like to get around 100 miles on it before I really beat on it at all and raise the RPM's up to high. I spent too much time and money on it at this point to cut corners and risk damaging the engine. I may take it out to Iola and back today to put some more miles on it and to make sure everything is A OK! Regardless, I will be in Point for the fire crackers, and to watch the festivities afterwords.

iola and back plus the 15-20 miles you already put on it should be plenty.if it was gonna blow you would have known it by now.

north your an idiot.... on a rebuilt motor there is always a "break in" period before you put any real pressure to it, If its a personal rebuilt or from a shop. This is to ensure the bearings and other "friction/moving" parts are wore in correctly and any possible issues are spotted and not worsen threw beating. most places say 500 miles at a min for break in. I can continue to list reasons to have a "proper" break in time but why bother.
P.S Not trying to take sides here just pulling out bullshit and filling it with some logic. why talk shit to someone trying to be logical about an investment? needless to say this form has unique.
Dizmm
07-10-2010, 09:28 AM
the motor break in period takes place the first 5 minutes of running. You also want to vary rpms/load. an auto-x is the perfect place to break in a motor. I'm not kidding either. most shops break in their motors right on the dyno, doing pulls almost immediately.
MSS auto-x is over a week away, 100 miles shouldnt be a problem.

start it up, take a drive on the highway between Rapids and Plover, do a couple WOT pulls, change the oil.....done.

Pretty much. Ideally you want to run the rpms up in 3rd or 4th gear and then just let off the gas to create the most vacuum to pull the rings against the cylinder walls so they can wear in. Once the hone ridges are gone (within the first 10-20 minutes of the motor running) there is no more breaking in left to do.

Didn't say a road trip was the best break in, Grocery getter and you dizzm are correct. once the motor is started you run it for 5-10 minutes. If it makes it past this you did a good job. but you still need to put miles on it before really beating the car, things still need to wear in properly! i agree with an auto cross being a decent break in after some miles are put on it, its great to vary the RPM's. Its actually stated in write ups that road trips are not a good "break in" Sorry if my post seem'd miss leading i just wasn't going to type a whole article on breaking in a motor i just did a brief statement. Also knowing that the cooling system is working properly and other systems are working is nice to know. why a 500 mile is commonly said*tho not needed to go a full 500 miles IMO*
To north your still a shit talking idiot... As far as i read there not totally disagreeing with me. By the looks of it I didn't explain things to clearly. Nor did i say they were idiots, just you sir.

Waupaca's "Super-Nova" stepped up its game this year. Its a bit of a different car.
However there is a new Waupaca car that wants to put that Super-Nova in its place. In two weeks there will be an epic V8 Waupaca car shootout to see who is the fastest. It should be close.
I will be at TT this week (Weather permitting). Rattle where are yooooou??

Its not every Friday/Saturday.... As far as weekend racing goes this has been the shittiest year of all time!
It might have something to do with gathering up 2 blocks from the Sheriff's dept and SPPD. Then driving down the main drag thru Plover in a large group while again passing another PD on the way.
