View Full Version : Fixes
Maybe TK the metallurgy expert can explain everything going on in these pics.
Unfortunately because this is a cast part the welded area is prone to crack again next to the weld because the cast pores are opened up upon welding. However it would take a hit from a curb, rock, hammer, etc. in the exact same spot it was hit before.

I would worry about what caused it to crack in the first place.
It was hit, there was a divot at the edge of the crack.
5ziggen makes two wheels, fn01r-c and fn01r the -C's are cast and are weaker then the fn01r forged wheels.

Is that safety video with the exploding semi tire still stuck in your head?
Where have I seen a discussion about this before?

Very nice welding. It takes a lot of practice and good equipment to do the job right. People can complain about the prices but aluminum welding isn't cheap. I had a quote of $50.00 just to weld a 12AN fitting into a fuel cell.
They should price out titanium and carbon fiber stuff. LOL

Can VPT weld steel to titanium?
Can VPT weld steel to titanium?
It is possible to weld the two together but the weld would be incredibly brittle and would come apart just by blowing on it. All joints where two opposing property metals come together have a flat 2 bolts flange/V-band flange/slip joint/ball and cup. I have explained my thoughts on the different joints before.

Well my shit is leaking. Can it be fixed?
Sounds like an anal malfunction, you would have to see a doctor about that.

No, I forgot to get pics as well. People will just have to go to KFC and see the work for themselves.
Bluepies exhaust was broke because of someone elses modification but it will still be fixed under warranty because I am a nice guy.

Where is the complaint box? I am sure that thing would be full of complaints of ear aches!
When ya going to have some time to fix that? Or should I just leave it off?

Yes, I'm coming to TT tonight!
(and "uh-oh, what ELSE is broken on this car!")
Run Bluepy's exhaust up inside the back of the car, nothing hanging down to rip off then!

Thats how I never get complaints, no box for them. Its like bills, can't get bills with no mail box.
Just leave it off, its a race car at a race track, loud should be expected.

Agreed.. it's just kinda asking for a reason to have people complain and enough of that and we'll have a repeat of Timber Rattlers. LOL the car is STUPID fast with or without.

agreed. and being that i'm sure we're not exactly a big money making event for the places we go, track owners will probalby listen to complaining neighbors and shut us down, so they don't have other problems with the big money making events are going on... just a thought.
what was this thread originally about again??
