Anyone know when Wisconsin International Raceways drag strip is open? WIR's website had been down for like a year. They usually mail out the schedules but I didn't get one this year.

April 22 is our first autocross this year. It is at WIR and that happens to be opening weekend for the strip. All the straightline boys will be camping out that weekend so the place should be pretty packed.

Tomorrow is the big auto-x at the strait track day? When do the gates open? whens reg. and first car on the track?

The auto x is at WIR. We will be using the circle track for our autocross and the drag people will be bracket racing.

Registration - 9am to 10am.
First car out - 11am.

Nice weather and a nice event. 38 drivers turned out for some fun.

I had the pleasure of driving a couple of heavily modifed C-5 Vettes. One had a 400 cid LS2 putting almost 500 hp to the wheels. The other had a 427 cid LS7 which was more powerful, but hasn't been dynoed yet. :shock: A guy had to real careful at the helm of those beasts.

They should mate those motors to an AWD platform so they can actually put that power to work.

I disagree. Too many wheel drive adds unecessary weight. Sure in a drag race in the winter AWD owns, but it's summer time now.

500 WHP AWD would own the same car RWD at that autocross.

Ahh, but they aren't the same. Look at the SCCA autocross class list and index times. The cars with highest index times are RWD.
