Looking for a laptop (not a netbook with a tiny little screen)for my little brother for a decent price. Any deals you could hook me up with or suggestions on where to find some good deals?

If he just needs it for office/school type work .... Watch Staples for a sale and buy the cheapest one available. You shouldn't be paying more than $450 for a laptop unless you plan on gaming or heavy multimedia.

I just went to Staples, Best Buy and Walmart and you can get a decent basic computer for around 400, $329 at Best Buy will get you a Compaq or Acer on sale now.

I bought a $400 Compaq two years ago and it came with a free printer. It is used for visual basic programming, evo tuning, netflix movie streaming, and a home network file/print server. No need to spend big bucks on technology that changes as quickly as computer technology does.

The only crap downfall about a cheap laptop is if something were to fail. For most of you guys it doesn’t matter, but for someone using their laptop daily, downtime is not an option. That’s what we I deal with every day. We target local businesses as they don’t want to deal with the hassle of calling 1-800-INDIA and trying to send back their cheap $400 compaq. When/if something fails on them, they call me, i go there, wave my magic wand, and within hours from when the problem started their back up and fully running.

thats a netbook with a 15 inch screen. Look at the specs, EXACT same as whats in the netbooks just down the shelf.

So do some research. I typically just goto newegg.com. Good prices, full spec sheets with customer reviews. Good place to start when looking for prices.

Hardly the same....the netbook has a slower proccessor, less memory, smaller HD and no CD/dvd player. The netbook was $299, the laptop was $329.
