Saw this on Motor Trend, thought most of you would be interested.
Definitely a different approach.

Evos also came in wagon form in the non-US models I believe.... Took them a while to catch on.

That's a hatchback. Not a wagon.
I like the hatchback idea. Much more practical. I hope this new model is smaller and lighter. It looks smaller anyways

WRX and practical are not usually two things that I really think are supposed to go together. I think it's ugly and they should've stuck with the sedan.

Guy. WRX's are 4 door vehicles. Yes they are practical. Now with the hatch the amount of useable space behind the rear seat is far greater and way more accessible.

I hate those kind of hatch backs. Can't they keep the same style like the conquest/firebird etc?

I'm sure the designers would agree, but the public has spoken and 2 door sporty cars are death on the car lots and they sell like cold pancakes in January. People want practical 4 door cars so that is what the car companies have to make to stay in business.

A 4-door hatchback looks too much like a wagon to not be called one.... What's the difference?

They are just different. OK. :? Sheesh.
Oh yeah wagons have fake plastic wood grain on the side. 8)

Less rear overhang.
Allows the wheels to be pushed closer to the corners (which improves stability and handling).

Its designed like that for hauling kids, groceries, and pets.
But people also want 4+ doors on their race cars!

That's good I am so happy all the family people that buy WRXes will have enough space for their groceries in the back seat.

That's exactly what I was going to say in my first post, but I didn't know what it was called and too lazy to do a google search...
all you need is a taurus front end for that thing and you're ready to go.
