Yes there will be a lemon endurance race. No one knows how long it will be where it will be or when it will be but it will happen. You cannot have more than 500 dollars into the car and that includes the price of the car. Don't get it twisted this will be huge. ESPN will probably be there and maybe the Golf channel. You will have to talk to TK to get all the details he is the puppetmaster on this one.

how long will remain a secret. 24hrs dummy!!
i say we drive back & forth to superior about 3-4 times. that'd be about 24hours or so. it'd get boring after a while, but we'd sure learn the northwoods. what a waste of 24hrs and LOTS of gas. guess VPT won't have anything to do with it.

or can we use a chevy van in this race???? i have this white van that we have at the shop. not a minivan but the big huge van that everyone used to have in the 80's...i figure i paint it black and orange..bring out the A-team in all of us alittle?? maybe?

that's OK, i found a corsica tonight with the big-6 in it!!! oh yeah, it'll smoke those front tires right off!! i'm bring that, and 3 of my closest friends, for the long haul of 24hours of LeMons!!! (either that, or save it for eve of destruction!)

The secret is out. Mark your calendars. The weekend of Sept. 29th and 30th is the race date.
Register now:

Event will be held at Flat Rock Speedway in the southeastern corner of lower Michigan.
Entry fee is a measly $900 which is pocket change for the crowd that hangs on this forum.
Oh yeah and the car must have a professionally installed roll cage. Snell SA 95 or newer helmets only.

Guy. If it costs these guys $900 per entry it will cost us that much too. If we make our own race like this I can just see all the people beating down my door wanting to sign up. :? A lot of the people on this forum are just more than willing to part with that kind of cash for a weekend of racing. :? :? :? :?
Wide Open Throttle Rodthrowapalooza? thats some funny shit...
we have to do this soon, i have two entries, with cars ready to go: myself and a friend....im serious about this(I'm moving soon)
we could maybe have two person teams(two in each car)...one navigating the map rally style and the other driving...and then switching half way through for the drive back.
devlish
04-03-2007, 09:11 AM
i agree. just a trip to superior or back or something on some back-ass roads.
otherwise, why would it cost that much TK? rent out GSS at the end of the season. like just AFTER eve of destruction. figure out what the cleanup crew costs, and make the entry according to that
hell, never mind. everyone should just enter in the Eve of Destruction and be done with it.
disregard my comments about a 24hr lemon race. i wanna join Eve of D

WTF!! That wasn't the idea! The idea was to have our own wheel to wheel race on one of the local speedways for between 1-3 hours with three man teams and see who is still driving at the end. I know what the real 24 hours of LeMons is and I wasn't actually talking about joining that one goddammit.

Sol Man. You have no $($(*&$#(*^#& idea what it would take to put on a Lemon Race. Are you willing to part with $900 to participate?? That's what it would cost and that's just the entry fee. If you won't participate the the 24 Hours of Lemons in Michigan (which is just a jump ,skip away) what in the sam hell makes you think you'd participate in one local? Hell Michigan is practically local.

Thats what I was thinking too. But like a full tank of gas run around golden sands. Still door to door racing but a fuel challenge as well. First person to run out of gas will set the final lap for race winner and last car out of gas will take fuel saver 1st place.
this isnt supposed to be hard....buy a piece of shit, lay out a course in the country...perhaps random checkpoints of endurance where you have to stop and bounce the car off the rev limiter for 30 seconds, take a dirt jump and do a reverse 180. this could work....i have access to about 5 cars, all about $200 each.

Hell I'm surprised VPT is willing to waste a tank of gas on the track.... It would be a great place to run water injection .... or a salvaged insight.

Hey I may have misunderstood but I am pretty sure that way back when we were first talking about this it was your idea. Could be wrong. And I am also pretty sure that you were saying something about just having it at Golden Sands or Marshfield. It would be nothing more than a wheel to wheel circle jerk race with cars that cost under 500 dollars. Now if we can go autocross all f%cking day for 30 bucks at golden sands than why in the hell would it cost us 900 dollars to drive around in a circle for one hour?

by golly i think you may have something here. it'd cost what... $30tops to fill up most of our tanks with 87, cuz thats all a beater needs anyways.

I was trying to talk those guys out of it. They were thinking buy a $500 car and race around all day. I was shaking my head because wheel wheel racing is a whole different world from autocross. More danger, more risk, more fun, exponentially more money. After I read a few of the requirements on the website I just laughed.
$500 car - no problem
$1,000 for a professionally installed roll cage - problem - why put a $1,000 roll cage is a shitty car.
$400 - Snell SA helmet
$1,000 - 3 layer Nomex drivers suit
$100 - Fire proof shoes
$50 - Fire proof gloves- etc. etc. etc.
$900 - Entry fee...For insurance, rescue crews, ambulance, papamedics, etc.
Wheel to wheel racing is for people who are very rich. I'll stick to autocross thanks.
devlish
04-04-2007, 09:12 AM
that's true, wheel to wheel would require a different insurance for the event, and the need for an onsite paramedic
my guess is that would NOT be cheap. TK can fill you in on how much insurance is for an event. but i'm not sure how much it is to "rent" a paramedic for the day. but last time i went to the doctor he got almost $100 for 20mins of his time!! you do the math.
i change my stance. although it does sound like a blast, i won't be doing it anytime soon i don't think. however, i'd still be up for a road trip to MI to check this one out. i bet it'd be easy to get on a pit crew and help out. there are lots of webpages listed for teams. i bet through a few emails, someone would let you pit on their team. it'd be fun i think!

I talked to Doc last month. i mentioned a rally down there, but he's been pretty busy with work and with his kids it seems.
we should all just enter Eve of Destruction this fall for a Team CWSCC. maybe we could have our own event if enough people got together. or put on some kind of stupid show like the "tranny race" last year for those that saw it know what i'm talking about.

i think frank should have run that AWD laser at the spectator races. he'd get them out of the start, and with some cheapo suspension work, he'd stay in first for the 2 laps. it would have been pretty cool to see a 4cyl dominate out there!
Pointdsm
04-04-2007, 01:02 PM
The laser is gone btw, i was actually thinking of running my car for that this year, but only after checking out the other cars to make sure they were all beaters and that I wasn't at great risk. Its only 1 lap btw, at least it used to be one lap.

bummer. well, if you found a cool team, $75 is sure better than $4000 to enter. it'd still be fun i think. and $75 for a weekend of fun is cheap. i realize it'd be work too, but still... you gotta admit it sounds like fun!
