Wondering if anybody here has any brake hoses for a DSM. I tore one friday night, and advance sold me the wrong one(fuckers), i need the lower hose, that actually connects to the caliper, not the part above it that goes to the junction box. I would need this part by noon tomorrow, any help will be greatly appreciated and remembered!

Take yours back and get the right one. They open before noon.

They had to order the part, they didn't have any in stock, i am calling napa(and there warehouse) tomorrow, as well as autozone tomorrow morning to see if anythings in stock. The part is close, but on the connection that connects to the line(coming from the car), there is a concave dimple in the line, well the old line has a convex dimple on it to fit together, this new line has a concave dimple, creating a hole in affect that will cause a leak.

No Fuck PDSM for not knowing how to properly attach a brake caliper to his car and fuck PDSM for asking for the wrong part most likely!!! I personally had nothing to do with any of this BTW... You should make atleast a slight attempt at knowing what your doing before you touch a car!!! Damn near everyone on this forum shops at Advance, and continue's to shop at Advance, so obviously, the problem is not us... We are all ASE certified with the exception of 2 employees, which are part-time and not able to get certified yet... If your going to slander our store, then i'll have to ask you to shop somewhere else! I suggest Kaybee Toys in Wausau...

Forget the caliper pins did we??? Seems like something you would do... Oh, here's a tech tip, when changing the oil, after the old oil is drained, you have to put new oil in, just helping you out bud!!! Trade in the DSM for a KIA while you still can...

how did I know you two asses would make some comment, at least TSI-II is mature about it. Well, i asked the guy at advance when ordering numerous times, I learned this morning, that the correct part was ordered, but the company that makes it, doesn't label it correctly, or as it should be. I guess an adapter is needed to change on of the female ends to a male end. I didn't forget anything, when installed, something broke and the bracket for the line fell and hit the axle, ripping the line.

Also, brett, you need to fucking calm down about your store, how do you think it is working at culvers, i know exactly how you feel when people talk badaly about it, but what can you do, mistakes happen, just that this mistake was at very very very bad timing.

So is your shit fixed or what? If you have to order parts you might as well order a SS brake line kit.

Fine, i will post the question up here i guess.

I've been reading about how good SS brake lines are, and how realiable they are. Am I better off replacing the lines with factory hoses or go with SS lines. I've tryed looking around the scca forums but can't find any good information about possible failures. I have the lines i want ready to order since i have to re-bleed my lines with new fluid anyway, and they would be here by the time i get back home. No, i am at school without the car, it runs great now, and ran very nicely before the line issues.

Whats the price difference?

I'd go with the SS lines, i've read only good things about how the pedal feel improves, especially for track driven cars. i'd tell you how i like my SS lines, but i haven't driven it yet!

SS lines will give you a very slight increase in pedal feel. Dirt collects in the wire mesh of the SS lines and acts like sandpaper wearing the lines out a lot quicker than stock ones. If you don't mind replacing them often then go with the SS lines.

Another advantage of factory brake lines is that they will fit. A lot of SS lines have to be zip tied - not cool.

zip ties are your friend. they are the next best thing to duct tape.

and actually, if you wrap your SS lines in duct tape, TK's so called 'dirt' won't get clogged in the mesh, and they will last longer. then after you ducttape them, remember to zip tie them into place.

Well, i've read on other forums about using liquid electrical tape to coat the lines, something that I would definatly do.

Also, zipties suck ass, ever wonder why i need to replace a torn brake line in the first place! The price difference, well its 15 bucks per line, times 8 is 120 bucks, SS lines are 115 bucks. You also need adapters for the rubber lines though if you don't go with dealership lines i assume. So roughly 10-15 dollar difference in the end.

i say do it.

Duct tape and zip ties. Just how I want my brake lines held together when I'm at speed on a track. 8)

I'll see if I can make a bracket, I don't want to use zipties again if possible, trying to learn from history.

Most HPDE guys recommend the SS lines because of safety. They say if something flies up and hits the line they would rather have protection than no brakes. Most people say they can't tell the difference between rubber and SS lines but they sure to look pretty.

I still have rubber lines on my car. If I needed to replace them I would go to brakeswap.com and get the poly coated SS lines in the color of my choice!

I ordered mine earlier today, and am going to coat them in the electric coating(basically a rubberized coating).

The poly coated lines sounds like a good idea.
