I don't know if anyone knew this at all. If it is old news don't crucify me please. The Performance Connection opening up downtown is actually Brett Peterson's new shop. I don't much about it I don't know if he has a garage down there or just a store front or what but it is his shop. He took the B series out of the Sol as well anyone know what's up with that?

You must have missed out on the 9 page Performance Connection page....... lol It only stayed on topic for about 5 posts, then turned into bullshit like everything else. Someone should change that title and make sure this one stays on topic.

Brett probably took out the b18c GSR motor due to alot of reasons. supposly it was PISS SLOW!!! now i don't know how he lost to a D15 civic ( project_2nR's fame of motor that is Honda's greatest built motor of all time) but he did..when i drove that fucker it flew..who knew what he did to the car..
but year i don't know if Brett is even running the place. He works at Sprint. Having a place like that in this town would just be lame when we have EBAY!

I still don't know what this is.... Is it a performance shop where they wrench on cars like VPT or is it the autozone of go fast parts?
Who is Brett and what credentials does he have?

Well, i saw there sign out front, its next to where the hostile shop used to be on main street. They seem to have a big office up there based on signs they've put in the windows. Somebody should go u[ there during the week, see whats up.

Us: Make an order for some parts
Performance Connection: Search on Ebay Motors and mark it up 175%
What else is there to do out of an office on Main Street?

they could have set up some vendor stuff. it will still be cheaper off ebay i'm sure though, becuase you eliminate the middle man.
i guess i'll have to check it out sometime.
it is nearly imposible to get dealer prices from after market performance companies to sell at a retail store. After you get a discount from a supplier and pay shipping and try to mark it up in the store people would be able to get the same parts for cheaper threw a magazine direct from the source. Remember that performance shop that last a whole 3 months in applton? That is the problem they were having. The only things they could get in, mark up, and make money on is the parts like auto-zone and advanced already have. Some junk blue headlights, cheap knock off intake filters, a couple junk mufflers. and a racing seat that no one will ever buy. Over the counter performance stores only exist in BIG cities like LA, NY, WA. because they need that many people to make a buisness out of it and make a profit.
best of luck to them, but paying a 1500.00 a month rent bill I don't see this place staying very long. Maybe it will make it threw the summer.

Good point VPT. If these guys make a go of it then I say good for them. I don't know why everyone is so down on this place already.

04-01-2007, 11:03 AM
Because what are the odds it will actually be worth-while?
TomKat
04-01-2007, 12:14 PM
Worth while for you? Kind of selfish isn't it. This guy is trying to provide a service for people. There is nothing wrong with that and if he can make money doing it then more power to him. I give the guy credit for trying. If you don't like the place then don't go there. No one forcing you to shop at this business. Sheesh.

TSi_II
04-01-2007, 01:14 PM
That wasn't meant in a selfish way.... I'm just saying that I don't see any way someone could make a lot of profit out of it around here. It was like when Brian tried to open Solutions and then Precison and Mobile Link took him out in a matter of months, and like VPT said, it doesn't seem worth it to try and sell the stuff Auto Zone already has, because we can buy everything else off the internet. I completley agree with you, more power to him if he can make it work, I just don't see it as happening.

they do stuff like remote starts and installs etc. i have not talked to brett alot about it. they rent a small office space upstairs above what USED to be the hostle shop. Brett pointed it out to me as we were going to close on his house. He is with a partner as i stated before..and brett has a full time job. They are starting a bussiness...but some of you decide to sit here and bench race and bitch about it saying they suck and will not make it. maybe they will maybe they wont. least they are taking the chance and actually DOING something instead of talking about it. They do not have a place there to do installs...i do believe they will have a place in awhile, for now they come to you or do it in on eof the partners garages. if you want more info pick upa phone and call them. Sorry just kinda pisses me off when people on here pretend to know everything and be better then someone they may not even know. assumption makes a ass out of you and me...dont assume things.

You saying I know everything is an assumption isn't it? Don't assume things.
I made an observation about someone I knew and related it... Not "sit here and bench race and bitch about it saying they suck and will not make it". I already said that's good if he can make this work, that'd be good because maybe we can get some new up-n-comers. I'm not trying to piss anyone off or talk shit about someone trying to help out the scene in our city, they have to start somewhere and it's good they are doing something with their ideas.

yeah, solutions didn't make it becuase he was too cheap. it's the truth. it sounds great to undercut the competition, but you don't make money that way. and unfortunately, if you don't make money, you can't pay the rent. trust me, i know. it's not always beneficial to undercut your competitors. it makes the whole industry look bad, and you don't last very long. then when you realize you need to start charging more, people get pissed that your prices are fluctuating, and they go elsewhere. and then it's too late, and you go out of business anyways.

Well, seems as if a little clarification is in order here huh?
All of you are more than welcome to come to our store and check it out for yourselves, I think you might just find it a little different than you assumed. As of right now we are open 12-4 M-F, we are still working kinks out of the daily operations. Shortly we will open our regular schedule which will be 10-5 M-S, closed on Sundays unless you really need something, we will make special arrangements to meet you to help your dire needs.
We are an aftermarket store for trucks, V8 muscle, diesel, and sport compact. That means all aspects of aftermarket, rims, chip tuning, engine tuning, suspensions, interior, heated seats(your seats become heated), Autopage alarms/remote starts, etc., etc.. The passion of both owners is the sport compact area so you'll see a strong emphasis for that market(it's what we drive). The store downtown is just our retail space, we are in the planning stages of a building located next to Coca Cola in Plover. That location will have 2 15x30 "install" bays and 1 15x30 retail space. As of right now we are doing our installs at one of our own garages.
Yes, Performance Connection is a partnership w/ the owners being Brett Peterson and Kizo. For those of you that need credentials, stop in and see us, ask us questions, we'll be happy to shoot the breeze. We can tell you that Kizo is PPG certified so there is an aftermarket friendly paint source for all your body kits, etc., you don't even have to buy them from us.
NO we do not buy our products off Ebay and re-sell them in our store. We are authorized dealers of all the products we sell. Our items are either sourced directly from the manufacturer where we are able to and the others are sourced through distributers. Our main distributor carries over 700 different manufacturer lines, that gives us a few more products than Autozone or Advance Auto. Matter of factly, we try not to carry anything that either of those two places carry.
All products that are not warrantied directly through the manufacturer are handled right in our store. So that translates to less headaches for you, because you have a dealer right in front of you. I know I would rather talk to someone face to face than waiting on hold forever.
Our main distributor sends a truck(not the mail, UPS, Fed EX, Speedy, etc.) to our store every day of the week, so you have minimal wait time for your special order items.
As far as pricing goes, I can only tell you that we know we can't be cheaper than all the internet websites, but you might find we're pretty comparible. Come in and price check us, let us know if you found it cheaper some where else. We've been known to wheel and deal before.
Here's a link to Kizo's whip;

You all probably know about Brett's Del Slo, but few of you know about his '07 X-Runner...
We hope to see you all there!

I think the shop needs to sponsor a local car..... something cool like an EVO.
performanceconnection
04-17-2007, 04:13 PM
While a sponsorship would be nice, it only supports one individual.
We are going to offer all members of local clubs extreme discount pricing on OEM replacement parts. Our main distributer offers those type of parts as well as the aftermarket parts our business is geared towards. We have no interest in becoming a replacement parts store but we have the resources, so as a "service" we will offer those replacement parts to you at wholesale pricing. Now it is impossible to beat all the prices that Autozone/Advance have, but we have seen savings upwards of $150+ on items. It really all depends on the part. One customer saved on his wiper motor, but I can't get my starter for less than the big A's have it for. So it may pay to just stop in a check it out, we'll tell you if your better off somewhere else for the part. No hard feelings.
Dizmm, (Old Account)
04-17-2007, 04:17 PM
problem is, advanced and autozone stock most parts, do you stock them?
performanceconnection
04-17-2007, 04:49 PM
Absolutely not, remember we are not an OEM replacement part business. Of course if you are in dire need of that part today you are better off at the big A's, but some cases you may see the value in waiting a day and saving the money. Again we have a truck at our doorstep every day of the week to deliver our products and it's not FedEx, UPS etc. Quite frankly it is no skin off our nose if nobody ever asks us to look up a replacement part because we aren't marking the parts up. There really is no incentive for us to sell these replacement parts other than the "service" to you which hopefully in turn you'll shop our store for your aftermarket parts.

Hey Performance Connection, I don't mean to burst your bubble, but Advance can get every product you can, plus WAY WAY more, trust me I would know! Tell me, is everything you can get all through second source, or do you have direct buy-ins from the manufactures???

Agreed, ever since advanced started that aftermarket section, they can order alot more.

Come see us, we think you'll be satisfied.
Our items are either sourced directly from the manufacturer where we are able to and the others are sourced through distributers.
I think almost all your questions should have been explained in our 1st post.
The point that was missed by our first post is that you really need to just check us out. We are another shopping option for you, just as there are different grocery and hardware stores in town.

If anyone has any wheel bearing that need to be replaced, we would like to offer our wheel bearing/hub puller/installer for rent. The tool rents for $25 a week, w/ deposit.
The advantage of this tool over other methods is the fact that you can do the repair with the steering knuckle still attached to the car, no need for a shop press. The tool is impact wrench capable, but it is not necessary for operation. We have used a 1/2" drive ratchet and socket set in place of the impact to do the repair when there was no shop air available. There is also no need to get an alignment done to the car after the wheel bearing was replaced.
Here is the manufacurers description and picture.
~Works on virtually all floating and trapped rotors found on domestic and import vehicles.
~Fits behind the rotor. Pushes on the steering knuckle, not the rotor.
~Eliminates the need to remove the knuckle assembly. No need for a shop press or unnecessary front end alignments.
~New Ford adapter included for use on Taurus/Sable 1986-1995 and ~Contour/Mystique 1995-newer vehicles!
~Puller and adapter improved with addition of a beveled edge for easier use in tight fit applications.
~Impact wrench compatible.
~Updated case and application information.
