If you don't know what it is, it is a endurance race of $500 shitboxes. Cross the 24hr of Le Mans with the fun themes of Trivia. Go under results and check out some the winning team names.
They are usually run on ovals and down south or California, but there are events at Gingerman April 17th-18th, October 9-10th and Autobahn in October 23rd-24th.

Nasty. Brutish. Not Short Enough.
The crowd. The spectacle. The pall of blue smoke and roasted clutch discs. In all motorsport, no event captures the universal human need to whale on old crapcans and hoover down greasy barbecue like the 24 Hours of LeMons.
Each LeMons race is for cars purchased, fixed up, and track-prepped for a total of 500 dollars or less. But before reaching the grid, you'll have to survive trials like the Personal-Injury-Lawyer Anti-Slalom, the Marxist-Valet Parking Challenge, and the Wide Open Throttle Rodthrowapalooza. Twelve hours into the race, the car voted People’s Choice is called in and awarded a cash prize; simultaneously, the car voted People’s Curse is called in and summarily destroyed. At the end of 24 hours, a gala awards ceremony plies the survivors with trophies, plaques, and four-figure purses in canvas bags full of nickels. What's not to like?
Sounds like a blast!!! Quite a bit has to be stuck in to the car and fire suit and safety stuff but split up amongst 4-6 people wouldn't be bad.
Here is a good one
3.16: Bad-Weather Visibility: It's your job to figure out which bad-weather visibility aids will be most useful for your car. Wipers, Rain-X, tearoffs, small squeegee-wielding children tied to the hood, etc. are all acceptable.
Jake want a free ride on the roof of a race car?

I was thinking of donating Rice, my 89 Integra I have had for almost 11 years. I used to Auto X and phunk around on the ice with it on studded tires so its been quality race beat.

6: LOUSY DRIVING
6.1: Individual Lousy-Driving Rule: Lousy driving--which includes, but is not limited to, unnecessary contact, overly aggressive driving, chopping off other cars, unsportsmanlike conduct, lack of car control, just generally being an idiot, and/or proving an undue pain in the butt to fellow competitors--will result in a black-flag penalty for Lousy Driving. These penalties will be punished as follows:
6.1.1: First Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Mandatory driver change; offending driver can't return to the track for three hours.
6.1.2: Second Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Driver loses his wristband for the rest of the day.
6.1.3: Third Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Driver is out for the rest of the season, beginning immediately.
6.2: Team Lousy-Driving Rule: Teams are held jointly accountable for the Lousy Driving Offenses earned by their drivers. These penalties are punished as follows.
6.2.1: First Lousy-Driving Offense: Mandatory driver change, 30-minute vehicle impound.
6.2.2: Second Lousy-Driving Offense: One-hour impound.
6.2.3: Third Lousy-Driving Offense: Four-hour impound.
6.2.4: Fourth Lousy-Driving Offense: Just put your ass back on the trailer.
6.3: Why Am I Upside-Down? Rule: You're upside-down because you have no business being out on a racetrack. Any driver who puts a car on its roof is out for the rest of the season, beginning immediately. Any car that rolls during a race will be removed from the race.
6.4: Touching a Temporary Barrier: Physically contacting a cone, tire barrier, or any other temporary structure placed on the track by the organizers is an automatic Lousy Driving Offense With Extreme Prejudice. (You don't even want to know what that means.)
You got to love it when they use terma like "Just put your ass back on the trailer" or "Why am I upside-Down?" in the rules

$500 per team plus $100 per driver, I believe I read somewhere. But you have to put together a proposal and apply for a specific event/location, and they have to accept your team. Sounds like it takes some creativity too.
I have a friend that lives out on the East coast and I've been considering doing one of these out his way. The LeMons site has an active message forum, and I'm thinking that's probably a good way to get a team together for a specific location. There are some pretty cool vids out on YouTube of past LeMons shenannigans. A few useful links:

Me and Justin were thinking of trying to do this...we both spend a lot of time on www.jalopnik.com and they have awesome coverage of pretty much every 24hrs of lemons race. I'd maybe be interested.

With 4 drivers that's $225 per person to enter. I'm guessing you'll need a fire suit also. Those aren't cheap.
Looks like a lot of fun, but you are going to spending some $$$$$$$$$$

Yeah but you have like a 1/100 chance of winning a four-figure cash prize....makes it worth it :)

Fire suit, cage, sfi seat, harness, lexan, it pretty much has to be a race car.
And your car can be voted to be crushed at any time.

^ that's the worst part. all that cash and they can crush it whenever they want
however, it would be fun as hell!
having fun isn't always cheap!
Well they give you 30 minutes to remove any safety equipment you can before they crush it.

I'm pissed that I didn't pick up a full cage out of somebodies roundy roundy 88 Integra last year for 50 on Ebay
I was thinking of painting the Marlboro livery off the late 80's/early 90's Mclaren F1 cars since its already white, painting a big Japan flag on the top with General Yamamoto above the doors
a 5 series BMW getting crushed for cheating
