So I headed to Appleton with my Dad today to test drive some cars.

First up Acura TL Type S. Sweet ride and has a backup camera built into the navigation. Friggin sweet. :) The navigation is pretty cool too and it seems like it would be a very valuable tool to outrun the coppers if you were in unknown territory or bypass a traffic jam.

2nd Acura TSX. Much better clutch take up and smoother shifting. This one was a little more fun to drive than the TL, but not nearly as much power. Both of these rides are still incorrect wheel drive though.

3rd. Drove on down the line and found a Lexus dealer. Need to follow Devlish's lead and check out the IS250. The saleman wanted to push me into a IS350 with AWD, but I'm like hey I just want to get pushed not pushed and pulled. So he brought out an IS250 with an automatic - these cars do come with manuals transmissions, but they are only special order. Nice ass interior and of all the cars in this class I've test driven this one had the nicest leather interior. It kind of made me desire upholstery like this. I hate the leather seats in Zoey - I wish you could get velour seats in a Vette :( .

Anyways this car ripped and handled great. The automatic worked very well and the paddle shifters on the steering wheel were very intuitive compared to the BMW. The BMW 335i was by far the fastest of the cars I've sampled, but this Lexus was no slouch. Back a the dealer I was talking to the salesman about options and price and my Dad headed for the customer lounge. This dealership was very fancy pants. Marble floors and oriental rugs. When I was ready to leave my Dad was eating cookies and drinking coffee. I couldn't get him out of there. :?

I love the 250/350. I was very close to trading darth in on a 250 with the manual. But then I got to thinking why spend soo much on a fricken car? I only have a 5 minute commute to work. For the price of a new Lex I could pay off my house!

I did some research. Only the IS250 comes with a manual trans. Only like 204hp. That sucks. So much for the Lexus.

yes, that Lex dealer is very plushy. when you go there for service, you drive right inside onto the tile/marble floors, never even have to step out into the cold if it's winter or get wet if it's raining! free cookies & milk just add to that bonus!! kinda makes paying that rediculous high price for dealership service feel a little better. well, at least your stomach feels better after milk & cookies! If american car dealers treated their customers like that... maybe they'd have happier drivers! but that's a LUXURY car company for you though... treat you right all the way!

But if it does you will be pampered at the Lexus dealership.

BMW offers free maintenance not to be confused with free warranty work.

Oil changes.
Brake pads and rotors.
I don't believe the tires are covered though.

ahhh, nice. do they include the pad/rotors? or just the work performed, you still buy the parts?

Free maintenance means free. You leave the door with no exchange of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Even pads and rotors - labor too.

that why i asked. sometimes they throw in the labor, but get you on the parts.

jaguar will come to your house, pick up your car and drop off a loaner in your driveway. When the work is done they bring your car back and pick up the loaner.

Cars normaly don't break down in the warranty period anyhow. It is after a few years and 70 - 90k miles that cars start to have problems.

yep. my old boss here owned a Jag, and there was a little flaw in the real wood grain steering wheel, and they flat-bedded a brand new $80k Jag up from Milw, flatbedded hers down there, fixed it, and returned it the same way a few days later.

talk about service!
