Why don't you plan a trip to Rock Falls? WIR is the slowest track in the MidWest.
To top it off, the workers are oblivious to their surroundings, the owner refuses to entertain even the most simple customer request, and the facility is more like a gravel pit than paddock. I won't even get started on how uncoordinated the events are run.
My strongest recommendation is that you avoid that place at all cost.
Better of to go to GLD or Rock Falls and be treated like a paying customer instead of an abused foster child.

I'd be down for going to any of the said tracks if I can get a tune on my car first. I'm not ready to tackle it myself yet though.

Its a split crowd. One in the group condemns that place to fiery pits of hell. Never been then so I can't say myself. I prefer corners to straight lines so not a fan of the 1/4 mile.

Rock Falls is not so slippery. Paul H. set his best '60 time at the slippery rock.

I've been to WIR a few times and GLD a few times. Honestly GLD while a nicer track itself left a questionable impression in my mind. They give the same special treatment to the select few just as WIR does. I was there for 7 hours and got 7 runs in the whole day. While other people got double that amount in. GLD was also a lot more expensive to get in the door both times I went.

i only go to wir to watch so not sure what the track is like other then watching the cars take off from the line but i trust evil on his opionion there. ive never really heard "good" things about wir from anyone unless they made a great run there or something then they like it.

last time i went to GLD, it was cold, but also empty. could run as much as you wanted for like $20 if i remember correctly. I saw Evil run an 11.9 on his nearly stock car. GSW put down something like 11.6, and i ran a 13.0 in a slightly modded GSX, with the stock SMIC. then dizmm and i drove some 14hours the next day to pick up DV2!! long weekend.

I think Ill bring the Silvia, its not going to be fast or anything but it would be nice to see what it will do in the quarter, plus the track is in my backyard.

Hayward, eh?
I was just up at a cabin in Earl over the first weekend of this month with my college buddies. Stupid weather... overcast, cold, and rainy. Just played some marathon games of Asshole and Pass-Out. Drank a LOT of beer.

Tom and I have been talking about this since my son and I got back from Rock Falls a couple of weeks ago. We have raced at WIR for about 10 years and at Rock Falls for about 5 years. We are planning two more test sessions at RF before the end of the years and Tom suggested September 12th and October 3rd and 4th as tenative dates. The 12th is a test and tune day and also RF first "All Car Club Day". The weekend we were there we got in 17 passes and 4 races and the highlight of the trip was a 17 sec Focus putting a 10 sec car on the trailer in a bracket race. LOL RF has 7 Sport Compact "ONLY" race dates scheduled for this year so you know they appricate those racers.
RF hasn't been too slippery for us giving us our best ever 60 ft. and ET.
We would be willing to provide power, compressed air, shade, some tools, and Tom and I are working on bringing a additional trailer should someone breakdown. We spent about an hour taking to the track manager (Jennifer Anderson) in our trailer so if there are any questions I can give her a call.

Yep had the s2000 there one year and nope I couldn't run because I didn't have a "roll bar" even the factory doesn't count. But Great lakes fine with it.

I'm ready for a rematch, you gotta start making it to TT's.

Lil faster than my old 1G DSM at WIR, good job!
My best was a 12.9 @ 109 with a 1.87 60ft.
Too bad I don't have that car anymore, it'd be a GREAT race!
