We have a big game planned for this coming Sunday. So far the weather looks like it will cooperate. Time so see how fast and maneuverable you are on legs instead of wheels!

Dam Road Rec Ball starts at 10:00 and usually goes until about 3:00. You should be there by 9:30 to get prepped.

HPA fills are available on-site for $5 for the day
Bring your own paint and CO2 if needed.

If you have your own equipment, please bring everything you plan on using for the day. You may also wish to bring water and food.

Terrain includes a pine plantation, hardwood forest, open fields, and a sand pit. We play a wide variety of games, and are happy to take suggestions for new types.

Directions from Stevens Point: Drive west on highway 10 from Stevens Point turn right on County Hwy E go about 5 miles and then turn Right on Dam Road .5 miles down on the left, look for cars and fun.

Directions to Dam Road from Mosinee: Take Highway 39 south, get off Highway 39 at Knowlton Highway 34 (Exit 179). Follow Highway 34 south (about 4 or 5 miles) and take a left on county Highway E. Follow E (for about 4 miles) and then take a left on Dam Road.

If the forecast calls for rain, please call 715-340-3082 to see if we are still planning on playing.

Spyder TL FTW!!!! (at least I think that's what it is.. haven't even looked at it in awhile. I should get on that.)

I definitely want to do some paintball this summer. Don't know if this weekend will work for me or not, though.

I tourney balled but gave it up about a year and a half ago. Had a few grand invested in my gear and had some hot shit! Played a few national tourneys in PSP down in Chicago and one in Orlando. Never really played woodsball though. I always thought is was boring compared to PSP or X-ball.

Three of us got together and made up a team, and signed up for an amateur/pro tourney at Stalker in Lyndon Station once upon a time. Everyone had all these $1000+ markers, and here we were with our Spyder TL+'s. I put Palmer stabilizers on them, and we used SmartParts Teardrop barrels (totally hot chicks in the catalogs they sent me way back then, lol. Two of us were running HPA, and I custom-modded my trigger for a nice short pull.

We didn't do the best, but we didn't lose either. I think we placed somehwere 5th to 7th overall out of 15 or so. We got the flag on every match except for the first, and even got a complete shutout later on in the day. Only went through a box and a half of paint, too, lol!

Personally, I think woodsball tends to be more fun unless you've sunk a shit-ton of money into things. Because otherwise you're kinda overmatched by paint volume rather than any skill. Spray'nPray, know what I mean? A friggin' archangel on full auto in the hands of some fat kid who can't aim for squat or move very fast is a HUGE deterrent, even if all it takes is two shots to hit 'em square in the goggles.

I was almost ready to actually step up and get some better equipment, but then I had a problem with my car. So I went online to find out if this was a common problem. Someone nearby invited me to an autoX. I went. Hook Line, Sinker...Priorities changed... :)

The first time I ever played tourney I was on a team sponsored by Stalkers. Sucked for awhile and start getting better. Soon that team wasn't going where I wanted to go so I went teamless for about 4 months just going to practices and playing with friends and people form random teams etc. Finally got hooked up with a team called U.P. RAGE and played with them for two years.

My Ego8 just before I sold it...I miss that gat! I only owned it for 2 months and put about 10,000 balls through it. I bought it new for 1,300, beat the piss out of it and sold it to a kid in Utah for 1,000. lol

You all missed an excellent day of balling...... Very large groups and perfect weather.

I love that shit so much I wish I could do it every weekend. If you wanted to attend but couldn't fit it into your schedule keep an eye on this thread as I will revive it for the August meet.

I'll have to buy a new setup to have around. I'm thinkin a nice Invert Mini, 66ci N20 tank and halo B loader w/ a hybrid shell.

Not a big Tippmann fan. Electric markers perform so much more efficiently.

Well that's up to you.... I have an A5 with etrigger and a few JJM mods. The gun fires 24 balls a second and has spit out over 100k rounds without an issue. Not a single problem for 6 years.

IDK about 24bps lol my tourney gun only did 20 on ramping (one ball for every pull and release of the trigger)

I'd just rather get a good setup so I could ball with my old gang at Stingers or something. Tippmanns don't do so hot on speed fields like these guns do. Tippmanns are more reliable as far as breaking and cleaning goes.

Cleaning.... wtf is that. I have paint stuck on this thing from the first week I owned it. All I've had to do is change the battery..... and of course tweak a few valves with some JJM performance touches. According to our chrono it fires 24bps when set to kill. I run about 10bps to conserve paint.... still fired 3000+ this weekend!

camaro_guy
07-20-2009, 04:06 PM
Haha that's what I mean. You don't need to clean tippmanns. High-end tourney gats need the TLC after every day. lol

Pointdsm

So........let me get this straight.

Tipp. = More bps...less cleaning

High-end = Less BPS....more cleaning?

No I'm wrong, an Ego can shoot more then 20bps. an SL74 (model of Ego) caps at 54bps. It's just fields never allow more then 20bps at a tournament.

So to correct you:
Tipp. = fast enough, less/no cleaning, and very heavy.

High-end: Crazy fast, needs TLC, light weight.

This is 54bps btw lol.

I think that is one of the reasons I don't go anymore. To many people with full autos. Yeah I was able to take out the full auto guys half the time but it wasn't as fun as when everyone had semiautos.

Just like everything else it turned into who spent the most money on their shit beat people.

^ very true! everyone should get the same gun with the same amound of paint.

Exactly what I didn't put into those words in my post above.

Paint volume trumps accuracy and skill much of the time. :(

You can buy a full auto paintball gun for $100. If you insist on being a cheap ass that is your problem. I can tell you this.... I've been playing since 96 and I have seen no change other than intensity. The good people are still very good and the shitty people are still very shitty.

SgtRauksauff
07-21-2009, 12:25 PM
But if you take people who are average (not awesome, and not horrible), chances are that whoever can keep someone pinned by a huge volume of paint coming there way will come out on top.

It's pure mathematics. With a greater number of shots fired, there will be a higher probablity of hitting whatever's in the target zone.

Most high-end guns don't have full auto. They have ramping modes that allows a faster rate of fire. for example, Millennium ramp is a mode that fires semi auto when you shoot under 5bps, but after you shoot faster than 5bps, each trigger pull in and out fires a shot. PSP ramp fires 3 shots per trigger pull, but if you continue to walk the trigger, it will begin to ramp like millennium.

Isn't it the truth. I'll borrow my buddies setup in Augest and go out with you guys. I haven't played woods ball since 7th grade.

LOL sarge.... no shit... its called suppressive fire!!!

Concept: Part of your unit shoots at the enemy with enough firepower to make them keep their heads down. This is known as suppressive fire. When you gain suppressive fire, the other part of your unit moves in on them from a direction other than that which they are being shot from, and kills them. SUCKS TO BE YOU!

SgtRauksauff
07-22-2009, 02:04 AM
I'm fully aware of how suppressive fire works. It does suck that some fatso who can't run and can't move and can't aim CAN just hold down the trigger and spray in your general direction, and take you out without using an iota of skill or aptitude.

Which is why my legs felt like hell after a day of PB, because of all the uber-sprinting I was doing to outpace their arc and get in a position where they'd have to stop shooting or else take out their own guys...
