Cracked windshield should be fine as long as it isn't in your line of sight.

man thats a blast when its wet out there.. i wouldnt say scary..

You run street tires I assume. Try it once on a set of race rubber, you will change your mind instantly. On the pavement there is zero traction, which is ok at best for progressing forward, but add in turning and braking. The pavement turns into ice like conditions. With brick walls, and buildings so close at times it's down right scary. If you need any more convincing, please see the pic on the last page of the WIR thread. Wet + wall = Bad day.

One thing I'd like to add. On some tracks rain + race tires is not a big deal but MSS likes to puddle up on the concrete sections. On the tarmac it's not so bad though.
Also some race tires are better than others in the wet. It's down right scary on Advans.

rain or shine, its always fun. Part of racing is changing your driving style for the conditions. That’s one reason I love rally, the road surface is extremely hard to predict.

Odd Dizmm and I both hated them in the wet. I'm ok with slipping around a bit but turning or the lack of ability to turn was the issue. The Advans poor wet traction may have also been lowered to to cooler temps mixed in with the rain, at last years GSS and this years ice breaker @ Shawano. Reguardless I've had bad luck so far with Advans in the rain. Temps were only in the 40's for both of those wet events. Having a fwd EVO probably didn't help much either.

Since I don't plan on doing any lapping days for a while, maybe I'll mount my Dunlop street tires, they handle great in the rain.

Im interested to see what kind of time that atom gets they do 0-60 in the mid 3 second range so its 60' must be 1.5-1.7 consistently
IMO the STI's will win the 60' battle mine was a consistent 1.6-1.7 at the track on street rubber

Just picked up these Fuzion HRI tires for $65 that have about 99% tread left! The tires still have the lil nubbies on them, but they are filthy from the car being parked in a nasty clay puddle! Are they a good tire for Auto-X?

They're better than regular street tires, but they're no Azenis. I've actually got a brand new set of 205/50-15's for street use for my 323/protege/escort.

Had a awesome time! Thanks to everyone who gave me rides with them. Id also really like to thank Tomkat for letting me try my car out for 2 of the fun runs! I really appreciate it. Im hooked now and want to go and actually compete next time, lol.

P.S. To anyone complaining that i got to do a fun run and didnt help out, obviously you didnt see me after my fun runs cuz i went to relieve nick and help out at the far corner while the fun runs continued. Tom asked me to and i did, as i also was also at the track entrance with the sign in waiver for a little while too when i first got there around 11. So please dont complain i didn't help out if you dont know all the facts.

I agree with this as well. There are a lot of people that are intimidated by auto-x and fun runs are a way to take the pressure off and get someone interested in it.
