First off, I recently deleted iTunes and Limewire from my computer...It may have something to do with my problem, it may not. The reason I deleted limewire and iTunes was, when I had iTunes on my computer, it wouldnt let me open limewire. Only time limewire would load is when I would delete iTunes...kinda weird. If I would re-download iTunes, limewire wouldnt work again.

Well today, I put in a blank CD to burn an audio file for my sister, and the computer doesnt recognise the CD or any CD's I insert. So I did some checking, and it states that I no longer have the driver for my CD drive. Im thinking the driver was deleted by accident when I was deleting limewire and iTunes. Well Im thinking, simple fix, Ill just re-download the driver. Well I cant seem to locate it on the internet.

So I made a few phone calls and a friend of mine told me that limewire and iTunes when downloaded, tend to change or alter the properties of other programs....I didnt know that but it makes sense. He told me to try this little trick that worked for him when his CD drive wouldnt work after he deleted iTunes.

First off...
open the Start menu and write regedit in the search box at the bottom.
click continue at the prompt
under Computer go to HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE folder
then SYSTEM folder
then CurrentControlSet folder
then Control folder
then Class folder
then {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
once inside this folder, delete the upper and lower filters
then restart the computer

This didnt work for me. I couldnt click on properties(access denied) and their wasnt any filters that I saw....IDK if any of this even has anything to do with my problem, or what filters he's talking about or what they are even for. Non of that junk^^^makes any sense to me.

Im afraid that, if I cant find the driver on the internet...if thats even the problem, that ill have to re-install windows. But if the CD drive doesnt recognize any CD's, how will it re-install windows from the cd??

Any tips or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Im sure its just something stupid that I never thought about or just over looked

The CD drive is: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652D ATA Device
The Driver Version thats supposed to be installed is: 6.0.6001.18000

Thanks

A reload would be an easy solution.

And don't use Limewire! Full of junk and downloads are almost always infected. If you need to download items use BitTorrent.

Any P2P file sharing utility you need to be EXTREMELY careful about getting infected files.

I love virtual PC. Works perfect for opening files I'm not sure of. Never infect my main OS.

BT is just as unsecure as limewire. There has been plenty of times when I was trying to download something and I scan the file and it comes back as infected. P2P file sharing is just very very use at your own risk. I have just decided its not worth the trouble so I just go out and buy stuff now instead of downloading.

Doesn’t matter where you download from, pay attention to file size and extensions.

That's why you buy a Mac :D No viruses (well limited amount) How about you buy music like God intended us to do haha? I usually buy music these days. Your always guaranteed grade A sound quality. Since I use my laptop for parties I only use Limewire for popular party tunes I don't care for. For example "I Love College."

1) the only good thing about macs is their marketing, the way they are so adeptly able to brainwash people and make them so intensely and fiercely brand-loyal. Hardware wise, I think about the only good thing I've been able to find is the magnetic power connectors on the laptops. (and just fyi, the very first computer virus ever documented was on a mac. It matters not what brand of computer the viruses are meant for. They are meant for the largest audience possible.)
2) God intended us to hear music withOUT paying for it, as human expression and sharing in the joy of entertainment, with donations given to those performers, so they could spend their time making more entertainment for the rest of us. Then Lawyers, Mephistopheles, Satan, Abaddon, Lucifer, Asmodeus, and a few other people formed a cartel to take all that money away, and give it to themselves, rather to the creators.
3) good for you. You may not have very good taste in music, since you buy what they're selling.
4) Is Grade A sound quality like Grade A beef?
5) Limewire was pretty cool about 6 years ago. Not so much anymore. even though BT can still carry malware, there's a MUCH higher chance of someone else catching it, because of the entire infrastructure of the system.
