Is this your system drive or just a storage drive?

You will have to use a program like Partition Magic to delete your partition and make it part of your system C: again. You cannot do this through Windows without just reformatting the entire drive and reinstalling OS.

With windows vista you can, XP or older, you cant and will need a program like Partition Magic like benben said.

Why would you want to merge them partitions together its better to have storage for docs, etc on one partition and system software and os on the other. If you still insist on doing so i do have a copy of partition magic pro 7 which will do the trick.

^ why? It’s the same hard drive, if the HDD fails it takes everything out. By having 2 partitions you may run into issue with one partition becoming full. The only advantage of having a separate partition for docs would be if you caught a virus and it would make backing your data up easier, but even then, just create a separate directory to store your stuff in, or use the "My Documents" for all your stuff like one should be doing.

Yes true if it fails. but in my case the os actually runs better when isolated and also if you have to reinstall windows or if windows crashes all your files are safe that way you can format your system partition without disruping or worrying about your files.

The OS will run smooth until the OS's partition becomes cluttered and free space on that partition becomes scarce. You shouldn’t have to reload windows but every 4-5 years or when you get a new system. Use an external HDD if you wanna keep your data separate or as a backup.
You may be able to find partition magic from someplace with a crack or something, but normally it does cost money.
