thanks for asking!

i'm heavily considering taking bradley on a vacation. He really wants to swim in the ocean and see how big the waves are, and go to Busch Gardens in Tampa as well. so we might just do that depending on how much i get back. should know that shortly.

I am doing the same as ptdsm. I am putting it into my CD so it can gain interest so I can put a down payment on a new car when I graduate.

Or waste it on hookers and booze

Or waste it on hookers and booze that's why VPT isn't getting a tax return. he spent it all at grand-daddy's

speaking of grand daddy's... when is our comparision taking place??

Carole and I hit up Grand Daddy's a little over a week ago........ it was very sad...... I wont be going back...... I think bean snappers is about the best place in the state. I would be interested in checking out "The landing strip" but outside of that I wont be paying anymore cover charges to see non-pole-dancing stretched out, overweight, tatoo'd pussy.

Helby, I get to Honolulu on Sunday around 3pm..... If you are on Oahu, I should be ready to go out by 6pm..... give me a shout.

As for the tax return I will be spending it all on toys..... every single cent. We could change this into a wish list thread.

Oh my gosh...sersiously???? When I went there, they had some pretty nice looking girls who could SERIOUSLY work the pole. They even grabbed me and my friend to come on stage with them (it was a bachlorette party)!!! Give it another shot.....was it amateur night???? :)

EVILUTION
02-08-2007, 09:45 AM
It was a Friday night around 11:30. They had alot of "inner-city" dancers...... we were there for about an hour and I didn't see anything worth a dollar.

You would think.... if you were a stripper you would work extra hard to get in shape, get tan, and learn some pole tricks. Most of those girls had higher body fat than me, hadn't seen the sun in weeks, and only used the pole for balance on the stage.

Well that's too bad you had to see that! Every now and then we venture to a strip club....in my opinion it was Grand Daddy's and Landing Strip that were the best! Did go to the Rear End like a few years ago just to check it out and OH MY GOD......I think I had to disinfect myself when I got home. The place is a dive. In fact I got up to go to the bathroom and when i came out, a guy picked up my bar stool and was SMELLING it. Needless to say, my hubby decided it was time to leave before a fight broke out!!

Check out The Landing Strip one of these times.....you may find it much better. We had a blast there!!

Some of you that has CDs should just use it for investment in stocks you get more interest from there than CD's. I know couple people has done that. One made from 10k to 25k just in like 3 or 4 years not sure but yea would have to in a high risk but its easier to do when you're young.

Pointdsm

Being young and being risky isn't really the best idea. If you don't make it, and lose your money, you don't have money left over really. When your older, you have money to live perfectly fine on, so if you want to be a tad riskier you can(ex. late 20's early 30's).

You sound like a pro.... but a tax return should be fun money.

For investments, I dump shit piles of cash in to my 401k and that gets matched by Sentry. The sum of the two are dumped into a Primecap pretax IRA. Even with the poor market its been pulling about 16% for the last 6 years. From my perspective, the match and growth comes out to a 116% tax free gain and lest not forget annual compounding! To me thats better than day trading my tax return away.

well then just keep the cd and if you got 10k in it you only be getting a stupid $400 of interest while in stocks you can got a hell of alot more. Don't have to put it in high risk I just gave an example. My grandparents got stocks and they done it for a quite awhile but they were in a low risk since they are older and they have well over 100k of stocks. If you don't know alot about investment then you should look into it.

yes can be fun money but like me I like to pay all of my bills off. And be able to be stress free. I don't really like loans but if I just need one I pay it off asap. 401k is a good investment but not best either for retirement thats y I rather invest in some stocks so if i need some cash other than Social Security and 401k.

That's outstanding Devlish glad to hear it!!!!

Cash I think you need to do more research on this investing thing. Stocks are long term otherwise they are taxed heavily and are a bear to manage. The 401k (especially with a company match) is the absolute best way to invest especially now with roth IRA options. Also CD's and Money Markets are the hot ticket if you want a semi-liquid short term home for $10k and below. Now if you are unhappy with 5% and you want to make between 5%-10% fairly low risk then you should check out: www.prosper.com

I've been floating a few grand out there and its been pulling about 9% and my risk level is quite low when compared to the stock market. As a matter of fact those of you with lots of bills should check it out. Maybe you can borrow some money from me and save money for yourself!

Pointdsm
02-08-2007, 05:20 PM
Yes evil, your absolutly correct, Sentry's 401k system is great(my mom works there also, so its not the first time i've heard of it). If we don't let the democrats go crazy, we will also still have the Roth IRA(they want to eliminate it). Money markets are great, other than having to take out large sums of money at a time, but you can deal with that by using other accounts.

Right now my dads on my case(more so culvers in whitewater), about not sending my W-2 forms out. Its after January 31st, and still none of us have them at either residence(here or in point, and i asked culvers 2 weeks ago, they said they weren't there and must have been mailed..hmmmmm).

Okay I don't want to argue but as for 401k they can be great at certain jobs. Because at my company can only match up to 3% of my paycheck. My bro work does up to 5% I dont know what sentry does but i'll just shut up.

fordssuck
02-09-2007, 10:57 AM
Im also matched up to 5%... I put 5% wich is then matched, if for some reason I have to pull that money out, I get taxed 38%, but since im matched i make money no matter what! Im saving it for when i retire in a few years.

Ok, since this thread was originally about tax returns, I'll put my 2 cents in (although, if I invested it in a high risk investment, it might be worth more by the time I finish typing this!!). So..my mom called my culvers down here today to get to the bottom of the W-2 issue, since my manager(a bitch) has told me twice she mailed mine out. My mom talked to the owner(a great guy), and the owner simply said, its right here on the desk in plain view. So, i hope i work with her tomorrow night, she never works at all, and just bitchs at people and thinks shes better than everyone else. I'll get the owner in on this one, i don't care, i'm only working at this store another 3 months then i'm done.

Okay evo you were saying not to get windows vista because I was going to run into problems. Well I just brought a labtop from Dizmm and got it all sorted out and they just needed to build it then he just droped it off for me. Thanks Andy again. I used it and Love it alot with Vista in it.

I am not a dell fan and would problem regret it if I did own one. I used to be a HP fan but do also own a POS Hp labtop and after redoing it, wasn't the best.

I see that you gonna have AMD? I recommend having Intel Core 2 duo since they are the best right now. AMD was the best 1 or 2 years ago but hear they are coming back with a better technology. So yea its a non beating compitition. Infact the Core 2 Duo is far better than AMD as in speed wise.

I got some of these info from a Co worker that builds computers for fun and has a brother thats does it for a living and I'm sure Dizmm probably doesn't disagree with me either. I'm not saying that I'm really good with computers but I can get around them easy enough but don't have time to build them.

I also know that if you buy name brand computer (dell, hp, compaq, etc) that they load up so much shit into them like free software or trial version from software company that wants to advertise would be shoved in there too. Thats how you could get them cheaper too because the software company pays them to do it.

Don't take me in a wrong way because this what I have read and been told by some of the few experts and not some random people "thinks" they know it all. Of course, I just don't know jack when building computers but if I learned abit I could do it.

Dizmm, (Old Account)

I could name a million reason's why to not by a Dell, or HP, or any of the "bigger" computer companies.

We at Northside will beat any price offered by Dell, compaq, HP or any of those guys. But remember, you have to match apples to apples. Our systems offer a full 3 year warranty, if you want that from Dell, add on another $250 for the extended warranty.

Since I am not a computer person and do not feel comfortable diagnosing my own problems computer problems whenever they arise (and you must admit that you WILL have problems with ANY computer or operating system) I feel most comfortable with someone who offers me good customer service...regardless of what country they are in. And yes, I have had to use them a few times and I have NEVER had a problem understanding what they are saying. They walk you through solving the problem step by step and if they can't solve it over the phone (which happened to my parents once...a faulty something or other) they sent someone out the next day (Sunday) to fix it, with no charge. And since I use my computer for surfing the internet, working on papers, and playing with pictures, I'm not too concerned with all the other fancy crap that I could get. I like what I have and I am sticking by it. At least I know my computer isn't some cobbled together p o s.

You guys are funny. Reading your posts make me LOL!!!! Some of you need to recognize propaganda when you hear it.

To build or to buy that is the question..... For me I like to buy. Its alot like the building a DSM or buying an EVO.

I don't need any advice in this department as I do this shit for a living. Also all the PC/Notebooks at Sentry are Dell and I am a certified Dell solutions engineer. I absolutely love every Dell that I've ever had. Rock solid machines.

Cash not only are you one hell of a broker but it sounds like you are well on your way to becoming an MCSE! (cough)
AMD vs INTEL .... its all the same and you aren't coming close to touching the available cycles of last years processors. It is true new processors will be released sometime in March but the price difference is minimal and current processor performance is well above my usage level already. As for Vista, I dont really care for it because its new meaning buggy, its a memory hog, and the supporting drivers don't always play nice with legacy hardware/software. If you were to deal with as many proprietary software packages as a large business does they you would understand. Depending on what you plan to do with your laptop XP may be a better choice.

SPSRA you made me laugh the most. Floppy? WTF is that! I think had one of those on my Commodor 64. I have a bootable 2GB thumb drive. 56K yepper as a matter of fact that is what I'll be using to access the web for the next 18 days in Hawaii. Access is free courtesy of Sentry. As for AOL it was free too. Its an uninstall away from becoming ghostware.

Dizm... There's nothing wrong with this setup and the price is DAMN GOOD.
But for grins, quote me on a system with the following:

Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core (2.20GHz, 512Kx2)

As you know I'm NOT a big fan of dark wheels.... I like shiney things like the chrome swirlies I had on my PGT. Well thank goodness the engineers at Mitsu feel the same way. They released a BBS MR SE wheel called black chrome. So I sold my gunmetal gray ones to TC and got something with more shine:

Um, I still use floppy disks...mainly b/c when I actually used a thumb drive or whatever they are called, it caused me to lose my entire masters thesis (backup copies on hard drive hadn't been updated in a while b/c these drives were "so reliable"). Wasn't too happy about that and am still hesitant about trying it again. I just use what works for me.

i hate floppy because I have lost quit a few files because of them and now I just use cd r or cd rw to put files on. mini discs works pretty well too for small files.

I played Oregon trail when I was in 5th grade or somewhere around there and I'm 18 now and I have never seen a computer like that in real life... So I think Oregon Trail is a little advanced for you yet.... lol

Is that $4800 or $48.00? I cant believe it would be $4800 in just FED unless you got like 5 kids or something or make at least 100k a year. I only got lil over $1600 in both

Wife and I got the tax return back...around $2600. Not sure what to do with it. I think she wants to save it and pay back some debts we have. I've got my big tv so I'm not too worried about what happens to it.

shit, i haven't even started mine. will do so in the morning though.

been too busy with all the other crap going on lately in my life. but happy thoughts are due for tax return money... i'm trying to plan a trip to Tampa for me and Bradley in April. tax returns will more than pay for that excursion.
