View Full Version : I need a cd drive.
Yup my cd drive stopped working on my dell. I need a new or used one. It sits strait up and down in my case not flat like most.
Let me know what you have and when I can get it.
This is what I found for the driver in my puter: _NEC NR-7800A

I have no idea where northside is. It would be excellent if you could bring a few back with you.
So I was thinking, is it possible for me to put one of those newer quad core super duper processor mother board thingies in my case and everything like my power supply, hard drive, ati 9800 vid card, etc all plug in and work fine?
How much am I lookin at for one of those newer fancy dancey motherboards if it would work?

Computer is used for gaming. 1701 AD is running a bit rough for me now.
you old shit probably wont work too great with new stuff. not exactly sure what you have, but I have a very high end slightly used pc here. my brother used to do high end gaming (professional gaming i guess you'd call it) but does not do it anymore. Its a core2Quad with 4gb ram, Nvidia 9600GT PCI-Exp video card, plus more. I can get you full specs if interested. $650 for the system, has over 2 year warranty on it still, and would cost over double to replicate the system even by today’s prices.
PM me if you want more info.
So I see what my cd problem is now that I read. lol

So I guess I need a dvd drive. lol
I was hoping to not spend that much right now on the computer. I was hoping some decent mother board could be had for a couple hundred or something.

If your going to spend a couple hundred, why not spend a little more and get a complete system. its like installing a 600hp motor in a civic using stock trans and everything else. your only as fast as your weakest link.
Because at the 200 point 400 more is a little more than just a little more. lol

Don’t be cheap. For $200 you can barely buy just the core2quad processor.
Than I'll have to wait. Spring time isn't the time to be spending money on puters.
Let me know when you get some dvd drives home and how much.

sure.
Thanks much for the dvd drive! Works great!!
Now I have a new problem that I hope someone knows whats up and can help.
I installed the game fine. I click on start game, select my player, cp players, map type, size, win options etc. and than click start. The game will start loading up and right when it it completely loaded and ready to switch over to the game play screen the computer restarts windows...
wtf
I noticed the game requirements say 512 or whatever RAM needed and my puter says I have 328 or whatever. But I didn't think this should be the problem because the game loads and is playable on my pos laptop which I am positive does not have 512 RAM.
Anyone know whats up?
