This is rediculous. That car is not a beater. For a car to be a beater imo , it can't be your fastest one. I don't know what else you own andy but I'm assuming you have nothing faster than that talon. If you in that talon counts I'm not going to bother showing up. Or maybe I could bring one of my 2 10 second cars and call those beaters, but thats just gay!

If Mattsubishi drove his DSM in the winter then that car would qualify.

Actually it does. there are a bunch of little holes in the firewall from gutting it that let in plenty of heat. So are we saying as long as its not your fastest car its good to go?

I got this silver talon for a trade to just make money, i have maybe 3-4k into this car and its going to be sold. I've only had this car for maybe a month or two. You dont even know whats done to it so not sure where your getting your info from.

Also for the record, i never once said i had a car that will beat yours in the quarter mile. In fact, i dont really care much to straight line race, there is WAY more fun racing with some turns. maybe if someone didn't do a 7g stutterbox we could have seen who's the fastest driver on a course that has a few bends in it.

I see no reason why your DSM wouldn't turn. It's lowered with special struts if I'm not mistaken. Plus with four r compound drag radials it should stick like glue.

Dizmm's convertible was hardly slow. I believe he took home several trophies last year.

I dont know, the more and more I think about it, i want something other than a DSM. I want to try other types of cars. and no I am not talking about just the prelude. Lately I've been looking at a few of the skylines you can get shipped over from overseas, only problem is you cant get them titled without spending mucho moola, which i wouldn't care as it would be a track car only. thats just a thought, maybe not this summer, but next summer i want to go with something completey new, something other than a 4-cyl AWD car.

that's cool. but why "de-tune" it then? well, not de-TUNE per say, but take off all the perf stuff? if your keeping it another year, why not have just sold it all off this fall, AFTER a season of fun. you say the car didn't give you any trouble last summer with all the goodies on it, so why would it this summer?

Short version..... I was sick of the noise and decided it was sort of retarded.

Long verision..... I dont attend very many track days because they are expensive. Occationally someone pimps me uptown but that is very rare. Most of my racing action comes at the stoplights during my various trips around town (prior to 10:00pm) but even that doesn't amount to much. On average 95% of my full throttle performance is during my commute to and from work. Darth sees 110mph every day through the Shmeeklee twisties.

After many wasted days of researching very expensive go fast parts, I asked myself what do I really want from the EVO? Did I want to shut Mattsubishi up? Did I want to go after Zoey on the track? Did I really need what I already had? The answer: I wanted better handling and performance than I got from my PGT and I wanted it to be a fun reliable daily driver.

The next day on my 100mph commute to work I realized how annoying the noise from my coffee can exhaust was. I decided I would pull that off and see if the car was still fun to drive. It was (its an EVO). Then I started thinking about all the other expensive little do-dads that I really dont need if I run the stock exhaust so I yanked those off too. After selling nearly $3k of go fast parts I started thinking about simply trading up to an EVO 9 and breaking even. That's pretty much were I am sitting right now. I could trade Darth in on an EVO 9 today and walk away without a car payment but I think its kind of silly to drop $5k-$8k on another car that wont really provide me much more performance. Then again, it looks better, it has a shiney new clutch, it has pretty new seats, and everything would be new. I'm undecided.

As for the ATOM that comes out to $38k but its basically a cycle with 4 wheels. You can't drive it in the rain, snow, cold, long trips, bla bla bla. The 2.8 zero to sixty would be fun but that's more of a trailer queen car for Tomkat than a probe replacement for Jeffrooo. Of course I could sell the EVO get another PGT and an Ariel Atom....Hmmmm.

You can get the 300hp with stage 2 brakes version for less than $40k. A new Z06 will cost you more than that and it wont even come close to that performance.

That being said I agree that $40k for a track car is crazy even if the bang-4-buck ratio is very high.

The $37k version is the 140hp Ecotech (GM Cavalier motor) base model.

So Evil you can get more than double the hp and big brakes for an additional $2,999??????? I find that hard to believe.
