View Full Version : Innovation

On the other thread we were talking about building cars and how some people have to be different.
If someone has a good idea for modifying a car that is different from what's been known to work in the past. If it works great that's called innovation.
If someone modifies a car with something they are unsure of just because they want to different. Well that's just plain silly. :P
There is a fine line between the two.

I wanted to be different in the past with a G54b engine that was in the conquest and damn thing didn't turn out for shit. After spending close to $10k then spending up to $15k with the included parts to repair and with the engine I'm having I just pretty much knows it will turn out very well for just less than $6k that easily can support 700whp and if I have any problems there's shit load of people that can help me out but pretty much I know what to do after all the mistake I have done and then fix it then won't happen again. I'm sure everyone has done this on their first engine build with having mistake on a high performance engine.
Alot of "innovation" looked silly from the start.

I prefer to have a large engineering team do all the innovation...... Then have a large group of bleeding edge folks thoroughly test said innovations...... I then purchase the proven technology with documented positive results. I stay clean, sleep well, and enjoy the best bang for a buck returns.

technology is so amazing today that unless you have alot of it...and the above mentioned stuff like engineering teams etc...it doesn't matter...alot of technology out there you cant duplicate in a garage in central Wisconsin...or if you do..I wouldn't trust it.

Going against what has been done for years expecting to do better than what has already been proven to be the best is just stupid.

not true
for example, since the each EVO is supposed to be better and better everytime, are you saying those engineers are "just stupid"?? becuase when they built the Evo8, it was the best EVO yet, then the 9 proved to be better, and now they claim the X will be better yet.
something is only the best, until something new comes out that is even better. yet all those "stupid people" keep on inventing new and better things!
same goes for almost all lines of life.

Alright, I see where you are coming from, and I didn't mean to leave that so broad.... I meant more of modification-wise, and I suppose now that I think about it, no one would get anywhere if it wasn't for them, but I just think there's a lot of people out there who think their ways are better than those that have been proven. I agree with you too though, there's a lot of different variables to bring up and whatever with this, and I guess what I said was way too indirect.

yeah, i hate it when people start getting too technical on this CAR forum

The world needs innovaters. That's how we advance as a society.
Like I said if you try something different because you thought it out and think it may work. Great thanks for the effort.
If you are doing something different without thinking things out just for the sake of being different.......
