They changed the headlights a bit, and it seems more and more like the '07 STi.... But I still love the car. Seems like the front and rear rims are two different sizes though?? Either way, it's still bad ass.

Looks more like the Eclipse 97-99 front bumper

Yeah I can see it.... They re-designed the FMIC for shorter piping too it looks like.

Ok, its growing on, but still no pictures of a manual(which scares me a bit). I love the interior though.

That's because they aren't. They have those optional manu-matic paddle shifters or whatever I think...

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 12:44 PM
Then i don't like it one bit, the Evo X is not a ferrari(or italian sports car), it shouldn't have paddle shifters ever.

Dizmm, (Old Account)

I can see the evo turning into a car like the eclipse, they seemed to be about performance up until 99 and then switched to make it look fast but not acctually BE fast.

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 12:58 PM
Yup...mitsubishi is getting Gay again, they have to stop following the women and do whats right.

EVILUTION
01-09-2007, 02:11 PM
You are kidding me right...... Every EVO has been better than the last...... You cannot compare the DSM to the EVO. Sure the new eclipse is now a fag car. It was never intended to be an EVO.
Mitsu never built the Eclipse/Talon as a flagship vehicle. The EVO has always been about performance. This car looks very pissed off and I'm sure the looks will be backed up by performance.

BTW - A manual version is available..... but this shifter is supposed to be ultra fast..... playstation style manual shifting...... why in the world would you want a clutch if paddleshifting is faster, safer, and less likely to "mis-shift"?

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 02:14 PM
Because its like the eclipse with paddleshifters...it doesn't look like it has the power and finese to use paddleshifters, i mean its an EVO, not a F355.

Dizmm, (Old Account)
01-09-2007, 02:19 PM
Unless the shifting is instant like those formula one cars, i dont want it. I would prefer a clutch and a shifter and I'll do the shifting.

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 02:20 PM
Exactly...F1 shifting is cool though, i can't remember, but they can shift about 8 times in one second(maybe more).

EVILUTION
01-09-2007, 02:21 PM
All I can say to that is WOW......

How does a paddleshifter require more power and finesse? If anything a superquick paddleshifter will help the car maintain its composure. Power has nothing to do with whether a paddleshifter will work or not. Hell all the faster 1/4 mile cars are automatics. Why do you think that is?

BTW the current EVO has more torque than a F355!

01-09-2007, 02:32 PM
The only thing I really disagree on the looks is the front grill. Looks like it gots a big ass hole in it. I would keep it all red then it would look bad ass.

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 02:37 PM
I mean, just stop looking at power..and just look at it. Its a Mitsubishi..that doesn't really go with paddleshifters. Look at a ferrari, that goes with paddleshifters. Its a 4-door grocery car, why put paddleshifters, so women can drive it, thats why.

EVILUTION
01-09-2007, 02:53 PM
I dont understand your logic here. Paddleshifters=Better Performance. The EVO is all about performance.

What does being a woman have to do with shifting and knowing how to drive?

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 03:00 PM
you just don't get it, some things just don't fit with japanese sedans..and in my opinion that is paddleshifters,

EVILUTION
01-09-2007, 03:04 PM
I think your logic and argument is flawed....

Its starting to sound like a thread I would see on a firearms forum.... Bolt action Vs. Semi-automatic

If you want the bolt action..... order the 6 speed manual..... Its an option.....

Paddleshifters aren't high end..... even the $16k Honda Fit has them.

Pointdsm
01-09-2007, 03:17 PM
They should be(high-end)..as they used to be.

PDSM you need a swift kick in the pants.

OK a little lesson on automatic and manual transmissions for you guys:

Automatic - has a torque converter. These transmissions suck ass even with the manual modes and special shifters. Yes some even come with paddle shifters.

Manual - has a clutch. Some are automated and have no clutch pedal also called SMG or DSG transmissions. Some of these systems are better than others. The VW Audi DSG is supposed to be really good. These transmissions are great when slogging a car at a track (like a formula one car), but when just driving around town normally it's like someone who doesn't know how to drive a stick shift car is working the clutch for you. I've driven the BMW DSG and is was OK on a track. Personally I'll take a regular clutch manual transmission any day.

X is equipped with the automated manual transmission with magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters that will be available on the next Lancer Evolution. This new transmission will offer lightning fast, paddle-shift actuated shifting when desired, along with offering a fully automatic mode. This unit is not a conventional torque-converter automatic transmission, but rather a true auto-capable manual similar to that used on some of the world's most notable performance models. For stick shift purists, the next Lancer Evolution will still offer a conventional 6-speed manual transmission. With the 4B11 turbo engine's stronger torque performance, a 6-speed will provide optimal acceleration response.

I'm not going to argue the fact that this car will most likely kick ass. but what i don't like to hear is the following...

taken from said clip, 30sec --> 38sec timeline:

"... it (EvoX) will also represent a significant shift in the cars character, as it moves from a one-dimensional street racer, into a more well- rounded performance sedan"

i understand that BMW and even some Mercedes have great 4door performance type cars. but i still relate the word "sedan" to something my mother drives. not something i'm going to take to a race track and be all "hey, look at my PERFORMANCE car!"

again, not arguing the greatness of this car. but once again, they will go away from a performance platform into a "family" sedan with this eventually. sad but true.

Dizmm, (Old Account)
01-09-2007, 09:54 PM
with a 4 door sedan, they will be able to hit more of a market. If they were all about performance, it would be 2 door to save a lot more weight. There is a line between true performance and just a good sedan that has some good performance for its class. So bottum line, the new evo X is NOT ALL about performance, its probably 75% performance.

Actually I hope they dont make it all about performance because many EVO owners are sick of not having cruise control. I'm sure many of us wouldn't mind a few perks like dual climate and nav.

Its been a sedan for years so that shouldn't shock anyone. A four door is four door whether it hands two doors their ass on the track or not. FYI, when changing from the 98 GSX to the 03 sedan my insurance went down $100 over 6 months.

One thing for sure, we won't know until they hit the street. Who knows maybe I wont like it. There are many possibilities. I could keep the 03 and turn it into a true race car and get "something else" for a sporty daily driver. Maybe I'll just get rid of my cars and sit at home discussing them like VPT does.

My vote evil, keep your evo, and mod the piss out of it. dont waste money selling yours and buying a BRAN new car and selling that again in a few years for half the price.

for the money you lose selling a car in a few years, you could build a full race evo.

But he doesn't care about money, he just has to get a new car every year or two so the car doesn't start breaking down on him.

well, you either work for money to buy a new car, or you work on your car when it breaks. either way you are working i guess.

Excuse me, Niemi??????
Maybe they make sports cars automatics so that stupid poser BOYS can drive. Why does it always have to be because of a woman.

And think about it.......do you really think that the EVO X was designed with women in mind???? Doubt it. It was designed with men in mind.

Both of my cars are manual and I never want to go back to automatic.

Women are not the sole purpose for automatics.

Yes. Unless your truck is black and gold and hauls Zoey.

Pointdsm
01-11-2007, 09:03 PM
Did not mean it like that, i don't know the fact, but chances are more women want and automatic than a manual, and with men, the ratio is much closer to 50/50. Now that i know that an original 6-speed is also an option, i have no problem with it, but if they only offered the paddlematic, then there would be questions to ask.

turbo chick
01-11-2007, 09:05 PM
50/50 huh? I thought you said you didn't know facts? you just totally made that up.

turbo chick
01-11-2007, 09:12 PM
Whatever, you can't even site that ratio, you have no idea. there is no way that half of men want manual cars. When looking for a used car you would find way more manual cars than you actally do (if half of all men had stick). When I was looking for my car, a lot of the ones that I found were automatic............and these were cars owned by GUYS.

Don't make shit up!!!!!!

If you say that you made it up.........it means nothing. Therefore you can not use it as an arguing point. And you did use for your argument so that is the problem.
