It looks like it will be the same story as The Condemned...just in cars instead of in a jungle. I'll wait for DVD, thank you.

Well I would like to see a modern day MAD MAX movie and this appears to be fairly close.

The Condemned was pretty much the ultimate guy movie...so I can't imagine that Death Race will be very different. Lots of extremely brutal killing, tons of action, lies, betrayal, and the good/bad guy triumphs in the end while the real bad guy gets his just desserts.

If you want to see a good "Mad Max" film, I would suggest The Punisher. Pretty decent and follows the idea of Mad Max fairly closely...and is of course based on a comic book, so if you like that stuff, you're an all-around winner. I liked that movie.

The condemned was shit and the Punisher was nothing like Mad Max

How is The Punisher nothing like Mad Max? In both movies the hero's family is brutally murdered and he goes all vigilante on their asses. Also, in both movies, the hero was originally either a cop or federal agent. Of course it's been an extremely long time since I've seen Mad Max, so maybe I'm missing something? Seemed pretty similar to me. Ok, The Punisher takes place in America in present time and Mad Max takes place in Australia in the future.

told ya

I was primarily making the point that Mad Max was acrtually a good movie, with good actors, Punisher was not all that great, imo. I should say though that I haven't seen condemned yet so I can't be too harsh on that one but it did look very cheesey and the acting didn't look all that great, maybe I'm wrong?

Ok, glad we cleared that up! :D

The Condemned, as I mentioned before, is very much a guy movie. The acting, imo, was not spectacular, but it kind of gets lost in the violence of the movie. The viewer gets so caught up in wondering who will get blown up, disembowled, beaten up, or shot next that it doesn't really matter if the actors can act their way out of a paper bag. If you have nothing to do and are looking for a way to vicariously experience some violence, it's a good movie. But I would not recommend actually paying money to see it. We only got it (through a free subscription to Netflix) b/c my hubby is a HUGE Stone Cold Steve Austin fan. And he was ok, but I liked him better in The Longest Yard.

He was actually surprisingly good in The Longest Yard, a lot less disappointing than John Cena

I didn't get to see The Marine yet, but it's on my list.
