Well I was thinking why we would have to travel about 2hours or more for a damn drag strip. Last winter when I did the merrill ice drag I was on my way home from there and decided to top out the car. Well got the thing a little over 140mph but let off and let it cruise down to 70mph. After about 1mile I get pulled over with no reason, but I know and I got called in. DAMN IT. Can't say it wasn't me because only damn rare looking car on the road. They got me at 105 (when I was slowing down whew). So I got a fine and 6 points which pretty much will suspended my license until I clear out my 3points from the aug. before so I wanted to go to court to see if they will drop my points by 2. Well of course not, but the Judge said Y can't you do this on a track and I gave him a look and he was like oo yea we don't have one. I said "yeah".
After seeing the wednesday Stevens Point Journal front page about how skaters want a local park in point. But I hear there's one in rapids and one in plover. Well the skaters can get to a park alot closer than some of us who like to do 1/4's. Well one of those guys is my co worker and I even told him it kinda pisses me off because skaters don't cause accidents but street racing does. Doesn't Point think about it. Well ya we got golden sand but that just a oval track and so damn small.
Well I'll just make this simple. Don't you guys think we should have a local drag strip. I would perfer 1/4 it will bring more competitors than a 1/8 would.
You would think insted of fighting a no win battle against street racing (because they worry about safty) they would try and help to get racing off the street by say opening up the POS airport for the weekends or building a track. But no lets just keep bitching and complaining about the problem and do nothing to try and resolve it.
Stevens point has the dumbest bunch of retards running it. I could not believe that there were 5 cops in the lot this last year and one said we should be out looking for break ins because we had like 11 within the last two weeks. I was like WTF are you guys giving us shit for than? Get out there and do your job doughnut plugger.

I'll agree with VPT, i voted down in whitewater though(to make my life easier and so i could vote for the big elections), but still why can't they open the fricken airport, or even close a road off for us once a month even at the least.

Tell the city that money is more important than saving lives, and see what they do.

They will do nothing, because they could give a shit less. There will never be any kind of airport racing or legal organized street racing. So, you either drive many miles to race at the track or someone drops the arms and you take your chances.

Well you have a good point Extreme, but CWSCC is trying to prove you wrong. It's not about money it's about liability.
We've been working with the Rapids city council to try and make this happen. Right now we are waiting to find out if the city attourney will be OK with the insurance that we have.
Airports. An excellent place to drag race, but I've tried to get both Rapids and Point airports. I guess closing them down involves a lot of work and permission from the FAA. We aren't in England unfortunately.

Its true that they don't care but how the hell they plan on having a skate park. In my words i could give a shit about the skate park but unfortunely they pretty much gonna get it. Boy if someone had enough money to make one they be rich in the long run I would think.

Well, good luck. I personaly do not see it happening. But, where there is the will, there is the way.
That Rapids thing is only 1/8 mile, am I right?
As for the airport thing. I thought they could not shut down an airport due to if there had to be some kind of emergency landing, they would have to land on two cars racing down the runway.

landing on two cars would be one sweet ass picture. Yea just a 1/8 mile if we are just talkin about this coming up legal street drags. If we get enough people to join in try to get one would be a good start. Of course it may take 2 years to convience them. Well if we get all the idiot street racers to make enough crashes then maybe we can get it to come sooner lol

The SPSRA has never had an accident. Street racing is a revenue generator for Stevens Point.
The airport is privately owned.

Yeah I thought the airport is owned by the city. You can close airports down and it has been done in the past. It's just a big pain in the ass to do so and the people who can make it happen don't want to go through the work.

No. Most race tracks are money losers or the owners just barely get by. Paving a 1/2 mile of track would cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
The city of Point provides recreation for it's citizens. Tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, softball diamonds, skate parks, ice rinks, etc. That's great, but what about us hot rodders?????

What, i'm siding with VPT on this. Only reason he doesn't vote is because his ideas are that instead of picking a lesser of two evils, don't pick one at all. He'll vote if someone he decides is good comes along, which in my mind is what this country is about. He can bitch all he wants, as long he and everyone knows that he would wish someone good ran for the job so he could have voted for them. He should bitching first about the assholes running for seats and the lack of good people running for those seats.

Why vote for the lesser evil: To hope for the best. You aren't showing your support but rather making the most of the vote you have in an attempt to avoid a worst case scenario.
Im not sure how you can say I dont care. Last time I checked I had 16 years of military service and multiple combat action medals. I've gone to war for this country so you can sit at home and do nothing but bitch about it.
Actually I think you are the one that doesn't care. Did you vote on gay marriage, the smoking ban, the additional tax for SPASH, ect? What have you done for your community other than pay a racing ticket?

Evil makes another good point, VPT has not voted on any social issues going on in the country because he does vote, and probably just doesn't care. Well, on every school board referendum, your taxs on the verge of going up or staying the same, and you could care less. Evil, you knpow how I am about the military and how much i respect and will back them for a long way, but 16 years? and where(if you can say) you were in actual combat missions?

PDSM.... I join the military in 1990. I have done three tours in the Persian Gulf, two of which were during Desert Storm. I've done everything from bunker clearning to artillery. I was attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Pendleton for the United Nations withdrawal from Mogadishu Somalia in 1995. If the fireworks on the 4th give you a stiffy, you would have shit your pants in the Mog.
Aside from various news worthy operations, for two years I was on an 11 man boarding team that performed various maritime interception operations. Those include everything from law enforcement ops in Mexico to weapons trafficing missions in the Persion Gulf and Indian Ocean. I actually have a letter of accomodation for playing a key role in the seizure of vessel that resulted in the largest Maritime cocaine bust in history.
Anyway I have had my fair share of close calls.

16 years in the military because of the pay checks.
I didn't pay a racing ticket.
You have no right to bitch about local government...local law...local anything..national anything..cops...roads...etc etc etc. Because you didn't vote. You didn't try to make a change...You basically Don't care. excuse my shitty grammar but you get it.
I cannot believe everyone is so uptight about this shit. I said I voted once, it did no good, my one vote will never do any good, so why vote? Don't give me crap about evey vote counts shit because I have never seen a vote count come down to one vote.
Take your voting crap and shove it up your ass. I will complain all I want and if you don't like it you have the right to not listen!

i vote, usually. but i kinda tend to agree with VPT to a point. now correct me where i'm wrong helby, but didn't our last president get voted in by electoral college, and NOT by popular vote in 2000?
if the stats i found online just now are correct...
Bush had: 50,456,002 = 47.87%
while...
Gore Had: 50,999,897 = 48.38%
which means more people wanted Gore to be our president, yet who got in?? maybe not this exact situation, but similar ones are probably a good reason why VPT and many others feel their vote doesn't count. becuase even though MORE PEOPLE voted for Gore, he did not win. which doesn't sound like much of a fair vote. and don't get into all the electoral college bulshit, what it comes down to is the people didn't get what the people voted for, and the numbers prove it. this is the exact reason why i feel my vote doesn't always count. i there, voting and all... but not always enjoying it. (not to mention, Jeske ran a hell of a campaign for sheriff, but he didn't even get mentioned at the poles!!)
