For this study we will be doing an in depth comparison of the Kelly Evo-Z and Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires.
Goodyear F1 GS-D3:
Noise: Not even audible. Neither at low speeds, high speeds, or in corners.
Dry Traction: Good even at cold temperature. Amazing once at key operative temperature. Predictable. Will see you through a corner even if you come in hot.
Wet Traction: Great traction, virtually hydro-plane proof.
Sidewall Stiffness: No roll. Noticable as soon as they are installed.
Appearance: Neato
Kelly Evo-Z:
Noise: Loud in straight line, louder in corners. Sounds like a half cat/half Hyena is being run over when the tires start to break loose.
Dry Traction: You will be victim of half-cat/half-Hyena syndrome quite often... they prefer to not grip anything. Smooth throttle control makes no difference.
Wet Traction: N/A
Sidewall Stiffness: Without close inspection it can be assumed that the sidewalls are made out of sewn together banana peels.
Appearance: Semi-neato but the semi-neatoness wrecks the overall performance by breaking up the rubber treads into sections instead of making it one continuous tread like the F1 GS-D3.
Summary. F1 GS-D3 hands down. If you're bothered by the price and own a performance car by any means of the word, slap yourself and then sell your car. You're a moron. If you find yourself with Evo-Z's that only cost you $45, then I'd settle with them. If you have to spend more than that, buy anything else... including a spray on undercoating directly to your rims.

actualy it is a $40 tire compared to a $225 dollar tire. I still like the Evo Z's I will be using them at all events this summer. Its a loud tire, yes, But it gives a lot of feed back

Taking the best of European design, we’ve optimized it for America. Now, you can find true ultra high-performance – plus longer life, better wet and dry traction, and a reasonable price. The EVO-Z reflects the evolution in design and technology for this Z-rated, ultra high-performance tire. You can’t miss the EVO-Z with its awesome, racing-inspired design. Its innovative water evacuation technology. And the chance to experience true ultra high-performance without paying an outrageous price.

Update: After 83 years and 2.7 million miles on my original Evo-Z tires... the tread was about half gone.
The noise was so unbearable that I dumped them for General Tires - Altimax HP for $90 each for 225/45-17(back to stock size).
WOW, quiet. Very good in the wet. Stiffer than Evo-Z but still rides decent. Although I just replaced the suspension on the S4 so I might be off on that feeling.
So far they are quite predictible but I haven't broken them in yet(only about 200 miles on them)

I just put these same tires on my Lexus.
They are much quiter than my blizzaks (as expected)
haven't played in any rain yet.
But I can tell you the sidewalls are not stiffer than EVO-Z's.

Can't... no one has any in stock anywhere unless you want to pay double shipping prices, literally ($96 shipping from Tirerack). At that point it seems more logical to get a better tire for the same price.

Yeah, Its odd that last year two of the Subarus running Dunlops with CWSCC had that problem. I know of quite a few people with other cars that have had no issues and loved them. The Dunlops are noisier tires then the Hankooks are though during normal street driving.

They are not cheap anymore and feel like poo. They are about the same price as the Dunlops now.

Justin had a set of Generals, don't remember which ones, but they were the super high performance ones. They were absolute junk. The sidewalls folded completely under the tire (the stretched bead was all that kept the rim off the ground). He did his first lapping day on them after about 1500 miles. He completely tore all of the tread off of about 1/3rd of the outside of the tires. I don't think they're the HPs, but they were horrible. I'll see if I can get him to post some pictures and more info if anyone wants.
oh and I don't even think they made it through the entire lapping day.
