Shall we start talking about this? A weekend trip would be great, or even a monday lapping day. I'd rather not take off 2 days of work for it.

First find the event you wish to attend.
I find it strange that you fellas want to drive all the way to the east coast for a track when there are serveral closer tracks you haven't tried. What makes VIR or Road Atlanta better than Putnam, Mid Ohio, MAM, Gingerman, Grattan, or Autobahn? Is it really worth the additional gas money?
I understand TK wanting to go to Laguna Seca because he has hit most of the above track but there are a few he hasn't. A few years back we both signed up for an event at MAM but it was cancelled. I can't get people to spend $235 for a full track autobahn event yet some are willing to drive to the dirty south?!?
I'm game for a road trip but we need people to sack up right now and prepare. I really don't expect anyone other than TK, EVIL, and DIZMM to make the event. PDSM's heart is in it but barely made bail money for BHFs.
I'm still game for something but it better be good. There are other options you know. We could attend a drivers school where vehicles are provided. Flyout the night before, get a good nights sleep, beat the shit out of someone elses car, fly back. It would probably end up being cheaper.

I would not be going to VIR for JUST the track and that’s it. I'd maybe like to take a day and do something else other than beat the crap out of my car around a track. I like to check out the downtown scene and check out the locals. Its very interesting to see the difference in the way people talk, act, ect in different areas around the US. Like when me and devilish were in Alabama, those people are so into college sports and it was funny to listen to some of their stories.
Also this trip will be a $1000 trip or more, so start saving.

My first choice was Mid-Ohio. I had no problem making the entry fee for Blackhawk, I just had specific money set aside for it. I'll look for some lapping days in august when they appear.

I don't mind driving to "X" but I'm not gonna attempt to get to Virginia and back in 3 days. That's horseshit.
One way or another I will be taking an EVO road trip. The remote track visit won't be part of it unless a group of us go in our own cars.
I'm giving you guys till May to decide on where you want to go and when. After that I'm signing up for whatever vent appears pleasing at the time.

I would like to go to Laguna Seca early Sept. Maybe even hit Streets of Willow while we are out there.
Take I80 to Salt Lake City. Rent some mountain bikes and ride some of the best single track around. Then shoot to the coast via 20 to the 101 down through the redwood forest over the golden gate and down through San Fran to Monterey (laguna Syco). Then take Pacific Coast Highway down to Santa Barbara where we would turn and head towards the Streets of Willow. After the streets we could hit 15 and head up to Vegas. Vegas to Denver through the mountain passes then back.
The trip from Point to Lincoln, Ne would be boring but we could plan to hit that at night both directions. The trip from SOW to Vegas would be 100+ mph and then mountains from there back to NE.
This would need to be a 7 day trip to make it worth while.

Plan B - Road Atlanta
Drive to Nashville. Stay in Nashville. Get up early and drive to track.
Much shorter easier trip more than likely with more support.

I'd love to go to Road Atlanta over VIR. I've driven Road Atlanta on Forza 2 with Xbox360 (Anyone want to buy my Xbox360) and that track just would seem like a pure BLAST to drive on.

If you go over the weekend you can work four 10s (mon-thurs) and then the following week you'd work four 10s (tues - fri). So you'd have friday, sat, sun, and mon off. But I don't even know what VIR is.

Tic tok tic tok mother fuckers...... where do you want to go?
I'm very close to signing up for the June 2nd full track autobahn event.
For those of you that haven't been on the Autobahn I suggest you try this track before planning a trip to tim-buck-two. Its an easy drive with excellent surface, high speeds, and plenty of run off. Very safe.

take a look at the poll.
The more I think about it, I'd MUCH rather attend Road Atlanta. I really dont care if its this year or the next. I would also be interested in attending an autobahn event.
Regardless, I am pritty much jam packed with events all of June and into July. So the only time I'd be able to make a long trip would be end of july or into August.

Yeah they are pretty easy about that. I wouldn't do it the first week of work, but I'm sure you'd be ok after a month *shrug*
I did it for RSD Fridays so I could have Friday off, and there were some other times too.

I think your Laguna Seca trip sounds awesome. However, by this point in the year it will be very hard for me to get a full week off. We sign up for vacation in March, now I can only pick days that other people in the department don't already have off. We should do that trip next year, probably get more people to come if they have time to prepare. I'm not commiting to anything this year till I have my car and have it ready for the track.

...... Like I previously stated I highly doubt more than three people will end up going on this trip. We can barely get people to sign up for blackhawk which is a cheap one day trip. Next year always sounds better until next year.
I have no real desire to drive VIR or RA. My purpose for going would be to get out of town. I can do that without visiting a track. In fact the extra $1k I'd save would pay for a massage, concert, suite, top notch cuisine, and all the fuel for the trip.
I would really like to drive Laguna Seca but that would be a very expensive trip to do right. If you cut corners to save money odds are the trip would suck. I'm not willing to rush out ther and rush back.
If people can't get off of work and need weekend events then we should plan to knock out semi-local tracks like Gingerman, Grattan, and Autobahn.
Its a god damn shame I moved my reserve annual training to make the Feff autobahn event. You fuckers said you didn't want to go to the AMS lapping day and would rather do the Feff day. Now no one wants to do the Feff day either. Yesterday AMS posted that their event was very empty and that it appeared the entire day would be open lapping for all. No sessions just 8 hours of track time. Cock suckers.

8 hours of open track until you go off track once and your out. So basically your driving at 90% the whole time, what fun is that?!?!?

You fellas should be looking for technical tracks. Tracks difficult to drive correctly or tracks that really work your suspension.
Gingerman is a very safe track but very technical. Drive it right and its a dream drive it wrong and nearly every turn will be impossible to make.
Grattan is alot like Shawano only bigger. There are off camber turns, a punch bowl, a 130mph straight, a blind up hill turn, and even a spot that completely unloads the suspension.
Track events at both places are normally sub $150 and there's alot of them. If Autobahn is too threatening or too expensive then entertain one of the above tracks and prepare to see if your suspension or skill set is up to the task.
