Well I know he was running slicks on the street and driving around up until a few days ago when he popped one....... smuT raced him (primer first gen) and lost, the Storm makes up for his launch once he hooks. I think you'd have a tough time with it.

hmm, especially since i didn't buy a clutch to install, that means i won't have any hard launches. I do believe running race gas, at race gas PSI, with a hard launch i can beat him, or at least keep up. I doubt he can keep up at shawano.

my experiences with jake would say that he would
a.) be arrested for street racing or some traffic violation
b.) break is truck being stupid
c.) crashing his truck doing something stupid
I am just not to impressed with that guy, few times that we met. Nothing against his ride though, Lighting is a fast truck and would be hard to beat

Why do you have a problem with people racing for money TomKat? Gotta get a few extra bucks on the side somehow....
TomKat
12-12-2006, 11:11 PM
Racing for money is just plain stupid and leads to all sorts of bad things. Worst of all from my perspective is it really discourages participation.
I've been around the block a few times in this sport and have noticed that people get really upset about losing. Now lets really twist the knife and add on the loss of $$$ into the equation.
I've raced a couple of times for money. Once was against a Monte Carlo for $200. I f-in smoked this guy bad, but ended up telling him to keep the money as I didn't want to make a mortal enemy. I have enough trouble making enemies just racing for fun. The other time was against a Corvette and the guy bailed on me. :x
A good example of people not paying up: At the Golden Sands auto x PDSM, Jake, and Jesse had a bet for $5 each. Winner takes the pot. Jake came out the obvious winner by the FVSCC competition rules. Well nobody paid up citing all sorts of crappy reason claiming that they each won.
Racing for money is something to add to the drama on TV shows and movies. It has no place in real life.
devlish
12-12-2006, 11:14 PM
good point about people not paying up... and we're only talking about $5 dollars here. remember when everyone was all upset about this ordeal?? over $5!!!
i agree, race for fun.
Pointdsm
12-13-2006, 12:27 AM
This was never written down, and jesse and I agreed not to pay because of the confusion, jake was no where to be found during this. The original plan was to only run the race during the daytime, which i would have won, but wouldn't have accepted money, jesse offered me the money, but i declined, jake was no where to be found. Then the night cap came and they decided to use that as well, which i was against, not because of me already winning, but that i was having enough problems at night due to my eyes and funking shit(my fault). Then when i "lost" at night, we called it even and never said a peep. We're all cool together, TK just thinks we're enemies now, when all the competition did was make us push further for our cars in the daytime, hell it was getting pretty cool near the end with all 3 of us going and uping the bar each pass.
TomKat
12-13-2006, 07:22 AM

I wouldn't mind racing for money especially my race car ran race gas, nitrous, or something else that is expensive and a consumable. If you own a DSM you better race for money every damn time and hope you win because something is bound to break as the entire car is a consumable. Just kidding about that.
I like Rusty's goal to "take the respect" but not everyone thinks like that.

like TK said, it's not about the amount of money being wagered... it's the bitching that happens afterwards. all that commotion over $5. now imagine if you won a $50, or $100 or $200 dollar race, and were actually expecting that money to be handed over and then loser bails out. there will be a LOT of bitching going on.

People aren't satisfied with respect, but they are satisified with $5 after they have spent many many thousands on their cars. Umm yeah OK. Guess that $5 worth of gas as VPT put it is really important after spending $10,000 on your car. :? Race gas is expensive you know.

actually, andy has a good point. and it might get more people out there. however, that in itself may be a bad thing. but it would keep people showing up for the races, etc...
throughout the summer, someone would need a log book, and then have scheduled nights that points apply. at the begging of summer, everyone that wants in on this registers in the log book. then like one or two nights a month where the points apply.
the moderator could send a PM to everyone on here 2-3 weeks before the next date. it could even be a week night or something, to change it up a little and keep lurkers on this forum guessing when it would be. that could also deter larger crowds from coming if it was sent to all the members here via PM only... and no dates posted in the public forums.
just a thought. maybe a dumb one, but hey... it could work too. TK would have to bring back the old log book!!!
Dizmm, (Old Account)
12-14-2006, 03:30 PM
have it setup really simular to auto-x events. There are let say 20 events spread over them summer. At the end of summer you must have competed in 10 of the 20 events, and your best 10 scores from all the events you attended, take those and average them together and thats your score. keep things maybe a little more competative, its all for fun.
And like devil said, to register, we all meet at a certian place, hand in the official registration slip that gives the email addy where you want the info to be sent every week with updates scores and what not.
just an idea, whats tomkitty think?

That could work... I like the idea. We could have different seasons too. What about the ppl like tomkat with a million cars. Would have have to register more then once?
We should pre date these events also so that pple are aware when they should have their car ready... but then again wouldnt this be like rsd and test and tune days at WIR. It might work it might not... its worth a chance i suppose

devlish
12-14-2006, 10:42 PM
it has to be fairly random though. like i mentioned earlier... 2-3 weeks notice TOPS!!! that means you need to have your car ready at all times!! and 20x per season is WAY TOO MUCH!!! maybe 10 tops for this. otherwise, it's just like it always is... racing every weekend with the same exact people with the same exact cars. by giving it 3-4 weeks inbetween, will actually allow for people to do shit to their cars instead of racing EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. (not that most people on here would change anything in a month) but it's the theory behind it.
i can see where DSMCamaro is coming from... why race a car you KNOW you cannot beat? SCCA rules would be hard to follow for this scenario... but what about even some consolation points for just running? you know, 5pts for a win, 2 pts for a loss. that way, your still practicing your racing, but not out completely.
however, that cannot be staged. ie: me and dsmcamaro race each other EVERY TIME so he can rack up 5pts every other weekend and win overall throughout the summer. maybe only 2-3 rematches, unless major mods have been performed in the mean time. it sounds confusing when typing this all out, but you all get the point, and its really not THAT difficult, as long as everyone is honest about it. (<-- which could be an issue)

OK reality check here:
-Who is going to do all this work?? It's hard enough just to keep a log of all the matches let alone organize it.
-People will not cooperate. They will not show up when they are supposed to and will come up with all sorts of excuses.
-Whoever organizes this will bring a lot of hatred upon themselves. I used to rank all the street matches and declare a fastest car in town. I got a lot of grief sent my way because of it and made a lot of enemies. And some of you guys think $5 is more important to people than the respect.

Superchargers are supposed to be belt driven turbochargers.

you cant say a belt driven turbocharger. a turbo is NOTHING like a supercharger other than it forces air into an engine. turbo is driven by a turbine. now you could say centrifugal supercharger is like the compressor side of a turbo that is driven by a belt. but a root style supercharger is not like a turbo at all.
