What should i buy??

Im selling my impreza, due to the fact that its going to turn into a pile shortly, im not one to cover up problems and sell a car, but if i dont do it with this car im goin to lose my butt. So heres the situyation, I got around $4000 to spend, and im looking for a good reliable car with cruise and decent gas milage. Any suggestions?? Im looking at a 99 Mercury cougar but im undecided. It has the v-6 and it is fully loaded including leather. But the reviews sort of scare me. It seems to be a love hate thing. ppl eithe love the cougar and have good luck, or they hate it and it is forever felling apart and studff is breaking. WHAT SHOULD I DO???? I had thoughts of a civic or an eclipse, but like i said im undecided. I need a car soon tho. Any help would be appreciated!!!

If I had $4k to spend on a car, I'd pickup Tomkat's B16 Honda CRX.

I don't think I would go with the Cougar. There weren't that many made, they have very little aftermarket support, they weren't that fast, and they didn't get very good mileage.

i've heard alot of bad things about V6 cougars. Get a honda or acura!

I use to have a 99 Mercury Cougar. I thought it was a sexy little car. True, it wasn't that fast but you can pick up a Paxton Supercharger kit for about $5,000 well that was a few years ago when I had the car and was looking into it, I don't know what the price would be now. My cougar got better mileage than any of the DSM's I've had or my Explorer. I did have one problem with it, can't remember exactly what, something with the transmission. It got fixed though and then Extreme made me sell the car. I regret nothing more than selling it. The kid that bought it is in town here and he has had no problems with the car since I sold it to him.

On the road just off of my road there is a REALLY cute 2G Talon (and it's black :D) ... it's REALLY pretty but i don't know how many miles and it's prolly rusted because it's been sittin outside all winter... but it's for sale... i'll prolly go look at it when all the snow melts because right now it's in a big pile of snow... :x

and to kurt... i do have a job, thanks... even though it's just an on-call one... where i am on-call all the time... but it's a job so i can't complain! :D
