So what was the conclusion .... did you guys find a good source for used race tires?

I was thinking about getting a set for shawano. We all know shawano kills tires. I would hate to ruin a new set of good tires. I'd rather piss pound a disposable set.

Why not use a set of good street rubber for shawano, why even waste used race tires?

Shawano is a race tire track. Lots of aggressive turning. The extra grip will make a night and day difference. Higher HP cars will definitely see huge gains from stickies there.

true, but what's going to be the difference, times??? if both me and you wanna play cat and mouse, why not both of use just use our street rubber instead of burning up our R-compounds?

John Berget has a bunch of Toyo Proxes 235-45R17. $50 each for 2007's or $85 for the 2008's.

I just gave John Berget a call, and he has a set in the size i want, but I would only expect a lapping day on them, and no street use. I already have my Hoosiers for autocross. If anybody has 4 tires(street), that they want to get rid of, in the 225/50/16 size range, let me know.

I could sell Stash's old 3000GT rims and tires once I get my new rims. Those tires are probably good for a lapping day or 2, don't really remember how much tread is left. 16x8's 245's
