Well..turn your boost down a tad, fix your boost leaks, and drive better. That should fix your problems.

I already fixed his fuel cut at lunch today... Yeah it gets a little worse for me, add compressor surge to my list.

Buy a Honda.

or just go through your car, really do a boost leak test, fix everything thats throwing a CEL, do your regular maintanance, and I bet your car will run good as new with NO fuel cut, NO compressor or idle surge, and for running into things, thats not the cars fault.

Yea, listen to andy here, instead of half assing things, really go through the car and fix everything. I know for a fact I have 2 boost leaks right now waiting for me to fix, my injector bushings, and my vaccum line caps on my throttle body, there is probably 3 more too.

Andy don't forget to let me know when the logger comes in. I'm gunna have a field day looking through all the codes... I know there's going to be a lot from emissions, but there's a few hiding in there that may be problems.

Alright thanks... The way I see it, it will be easier to have a logger there for codes and shit instead of driving all the way to autozone and back everytime I need to know if I got rid of it or not. What else does the program you have for it tell you?

fuck yeah! just turned 119000 this morning on my way to work.

Ask kurt how miles are on his car.

TSI-II..you do know you can check CEL's with a volt meter? I've never used a logger for CELs, just an Ohm meter.

Ask kurt how miles are on his car.
VPT and I figure the motor has a little over 200k now, but the car itself is near (or above maybe) the 320k mark!

the thing is, is that i am just hitting fuel cut now, in subzero temps and right after a rebuild...this is confusing

What's so confusing? Just buy a car that says Honda on it and you will never have to deal with fuel cut again.

You will be more likely to hit fuel cut when its colder. You can get more air into your engine when its cold.

And yes Eric, I know about the ghetto CEL checker. But you don't quite understand the amount of codes my car will be throwing, that would take a while. It'll be easier this way, and if he'll help for a few bucks, I think it would be a wise investment rather than wasting all the other time, plus I'll have someone who knows some things I don't.

Pointdsm

True, i forgot how many codes you might have, that method is only good if you just got one code.

just buy a standalone EMS and be done with it. lol.

Can't just buy a HONDA I got a 98 taurus with 182000 on it and a 93 ford Festiva with 159000 (mostly original because couple exterior parts been replace). O and just brought myself a close to excellent condition 91 dodge stealth DOHC with almost 160000miles on it. Goes pretty damn good.

I won't go the ways of DSMLink until I'm happy with my car. As Andy put it, doing that is just a "very expensive band-aid"

There is 3 things in my driveway that have over 200,000 miles on them. My dads dakota has 223,xxx (318 4x4). My new jeep will roll 209,000 (4.0 4x4) tomorrow and my sundance is about 213,xxx (2.5 tbi orignaly but turbo did it in) on it.

you would think turning the boost down would be easy...well, maloney and i tried and we unscrewed the controller all the way and im still at 15psi. We think this has to do with the fact that glavich shortened all the hoses during the rebuild. yay or nay?

TSi_II
12-06-2006, 09:26 PM
I said that because I could have thrown you off just enough to put you at fuel cut because I know you were on the border of 16 psi before, and there was a shit ton of vacuum line under there, now there's next to none. And then the deal of the air being a lot colder together with that could possibly have, but I guess not if it's still doing it. Just thought maybe that extra 1/2 psi (??) could've done it. And the fact your boost controller's spring needs adjusting doesn't help either, it's backed out all the way and still just over 14 psi. Would you need a longer or shorter spring for that?

Extremedsm
12-07-2006, 12:26 AM
Cut a half a coil out of the spring............

EVILUTION
12-07-2006, 12:58 AM
Try running the vacuum line directly to the wastegate actuator. This will provide you with wastegate spring boost control usually about 13PSI. If you dont see maf cut at 13psi then you are simply running too much boost or you have a big ass leak. Lower your boost or get some kind of fuel controller to trick the ecu. When the weather changed and temps dropped, my boost spike went up 5psi. I have a cold weather map that I run with significantly less duty cycle in my EBC map.

the cold temps are most likely your nemisis right now. i've had this problem before as well.

do as Evil says, try a vac line directly to the wastegate and see what you get. and i can get you a new boost controller for cheap if you need. otherwise YES, cut the spring little by little.

But dress warm. Those holes all over the car from rotting out can be somewhat drafty this time of year.
