Well then. It's time for me to have some work done on a toyota 4AGE. Basically, a good freshening. Mostly for polishing the crank, and cam journals, lightening the flywheel a bit, possibly boring the cylinders, maybe lineboring the block if it's too far out. Standard machine shop stuff that I've got no way of doing myself. I don't know of any good shops around here.

The one that supopsedly was the best in my area managed to completely lose a head that I took in for a simple valve job for my Escort GT a couple years ago. I will NOT go back there, and take every opportunity to drive business away from those fvckers.

So, from those of you who've had some good engine work done, where are some recommended places, that do good work, are honest, know where the parts you give them are, and won't completely break the bank?

Thanks,

Herman's in Baraboo.

I've got a hunch it was because it was some chunk of aluminum with these pesky dual overhead camshafts, and it was so far down the totem pole compared to all the racing engines that they build, that it kept being put off to the side, until it just went to the recycler somewhere.

I had all the new valve seals with them, and copied pages out of the FSM as far as measurements for the seat and guides, it's not like they had to do a lot.
