03-06-2008, 07:09 PM
I wouldn't say it's fast right now. There are some problems from 4.5-6k that need to be worked out and should once the stand alone is in. I'll be taking on the Maaco sponsored dsm that Dan drives. lol
I'm really not sure who will win this, with his lighter car and awd he could take me. We'll see, not really building for straight line, more for drift events and daily driving. But since we both have been talking shit we kinda have to do it.
Break down of what I have
SC300
1jz
gt40 @ 18psi might bump to 20psi
originally dyno'd at 455hp/tq (rough rememberance) with gt35r and shitty tune
one wheel wonder......soon to change
shitty w58 trans......soon to change
shitty tune......soon to change
It was at Furo's getting a new exhaust, nothing spectacular happened there......soon to change lol
Not to steal the thread or anything... but i was just drivin down the quarter mile tonight... and it looks purty except there's a little ice at the finish... so idk if someone can remove the ice or if we just wait til it melts by itself... hmmm... oh well, but i am ready for spring...

The snow may be gone, but the salt is still everywhere.... Winter beaters will still be on the roads for at least another month.

What drift events are you going to LSEGHATCH?
We're going to try and finish up the winter beater nationals this weekend (Friday night).

Tom- Clubfr hosts a few at shawno and a couple at elkhart lake. I wasn't able to make it last season but I definately want to get out there and just learn the ropes. I hear the guys are pretty laid back and willing to help out.
I wouldn't mind watching.
TomKat
03-07-2008, 04:42 PM
Will you be participating in the Club FR events at Shawano?
TSi_II
03-07-2008, 06:47 PM
That'd be sweet to go watch.... Even if I had a car drift-worthy, I'm not sure I'd want to subject it to the punishment. All the more motivation to build it better though.
TomKat
03-07-2008, 07:01 PM
Actually the drift events are fun to watch.
LSEGHatch - Have you ever done any kind of driving event before? Autocross? Lapping day? Drift?
LSEGHATCH
03-08-2008, 09:04 AM
Tom- I'll be attending both the shawno and elkhart events hopefully and have no seat time in any event. I might bring the integra to an autox or something, but the lexus is more drift orientated and wouldn't handle too good around a road course, I'm guessing.

LSEGHATCH - Honestly I'd get some seat time at other driving events before I'd attend a drift event. The Integra would be a good car to learn on, but I'd autocross the Lexus too. Just to get used to the cars handling dynamics. Don't worry about being competitive. Drifting is all about car control.
Autocross events and lapping days are cheap practice. Drift events tend to be rather expensive. I wouldn't make a drift event the first place to drive my car at full tilt. Bad things can happen.
Actually if you wanted to get into drifting you should have been out there with us on DuBay. Free and excellent drift practice. Even driving the Integra on snow/ice would have been good practice for moving up to the Lexus.

I've messed around with my old toyota truck and my integra and I know it's not drifting but I am pretty decent at holding and controlling them in my teg. Last night on 10 I was going to get on to the highway, north bound, and must have hit a patch of black ice at 40 on the turn and had that car completely sideways and handled it perfectly. Same thing happened with my truck at 70.
I know the basics, I've just never done it to the point where i could call it drifting, but I'd say I have the feel for it. Any more ice racing going on, maybe tonight?
TomKat
03-08-2008, 11:24 AM
I wouldn't recommend going on the ice this time of year.
Rusties may be workable. I'd have to check it out.
LSEGHATCH
03-08-2008, 11:25 AM
Why not this time of year? It's been pretty cold out.
finally i go the the forum and catch wind of said race, and quite frankly, i'm disappointed. First of all, i am scheduled for a race that i wasnt really informed about, and secondly, everyone seems to hype up the SC300 (Shit-Can 300). I understand that you should build up his morale because he is in fact the underdog, but i would expect some support. Jackasses. you are now, what i would like to call outside of the smut family "circle of trust".
LSEGHATCH
03-08-2008, 12:08 PM
Not informed, my ass haha. You knew it was going to happen and were down last weekend.

Can we drift around this "circle of trust"?

Yes, but the sun has a lot of melting power even though it has been pretty cold.

let me give you my $0.02 on this whole situation involving a noob drifting his car for the first time at a drift event with no prior seat time per-sa other hitting some black ice on the offramp... and then this discussion of "nobody told me" crap considering it's the cwscc, nobody knows what's going on, nothing new. so here's my $0.02... $0.01 & $0.02. there you have it.
LSEGHATCH
03-08-2008, 06:23 PM
The black ice was mearly a story on how I was able to save my car because I've messed around prior to that experience, nothing more. As for a noob drifting at an event, would you rather me not go to an event and just do it on the street? Am I to gain the knowlege of drifting by reading "how to's" and after that I will be seasoned enough to go to a drift day? In that case anyone who wants to go autox thier car for the first time shouldn't because there can't possibly be someone at the event that would want to teach the new comer.
These drift events are for all experience levels with people there who will ride with you and show you the ropes. The beginning of the event is similar to a laping day.

I way go for it, its a safe way to practice. Even if you make a fool out of your self you will still improve.
TomKat
03-08-2008, 07:21 PM
Auto x is a lot simpler than drifting and is a very good place to start for any type of driving. Drifting is very difficult.
Just some advice - I'd auto x before going to a drift day. It will make your drift day much more enjoyable.
LSEGHATCH - You have had plenty of opportunity to attend events with us (CWSCC) and alway resisted. Now all of a sudden you post you are going to a drift event. I'd just like to see you gain some track experience before you go to a drift event.
Driving at a track in a controlled environment.is way different than driving on the street. As you will find out if you carry through with your plans.

I've never resisted anything, just not enough intrest or am busy at the time of an event. A lot of users like to throw things out of context. I'm not comparing e-brake pulling a fwd to drifting, though you brought up "Even driving the Integra on snow/ice would have been good practice" and I stated that I often slide the integra as well as the truck I used to own.
TomKat
03-09-2008, 12:16 AM
Well it seems you are resisting some good advice. I guess you know more than we do. Good luck with your drifting. I'm going to have Club FR guys keep a close eye on you. 8)
Looking forward to see the race between you and Smut.
The ice is fine yet. It will be fine until we get a week of at LEAST 40-45 degree weather and above 30 at night.

OK VPT. You first.

I am taking your advice Tom, not turning a cold shoulder. If I had known that autoxing would be a good platform for me to start I would've tried a little harder to make it to an event.
OK VPT. You first.
LOL guy, how do you think the ice went bad?

I don't want to end up on the bottom of the lake.
Sounds good LSEGHATCH - hope to see you at some auto x events this season.

It turned to slush, then people drove on it and it refroze, now the treadmarks are frozen and its real jaggedy and bumpy. On the bright side, every tree out there is toast
I don't want to end up on the bottom of the lake.
Sounds good LSEGHATCH - hope to see you at some auto x events this season.
Where that track is it is like 2 feet deep, you won't go down far.

:(
I wonder if LSEGHatch is going to do any drifting events? There was a drifting event at Shawano last weekend.
even if it is 80 degrees, dry, sunny, 101.325 kPA, no wind, and with the density of air at 1.2 gram per liter, he will not bring his car out. I think he mounts a TV screen in front of it in his garage and plays forza or something...
LSEGHATCH
05-05-2008, 08:58 PM
Had it out today and will tomorrow.......as for the drifting events I've decided to keep the car off the track. I'll probably attend them but I won't drift, would like too but I'm going to be moving in the fall and I need to save. Driving to FL isn't going to be cheap and being laid off right now doesn't help in my quest to conserve money.
Come back into town again Dan. Oh and now it has it's own battery so I don't have to steal the one out of the integra, which wouldn't have been worth the one run we would've made since I went out that night and don't like leaving the lex unattended at random areas.
LSEGHATCH

Just to prove to you that the car is running and running decent, I'll post up a vid later tonight.

05-06-2008, 07:21 PM
Well here are two 1st - 2nd pulls. I would say they don't do the car justice but most people know riding in the car is differant that the camera man's point of view.
As for the compressor surge, I have to find a stronger vaccum source or I'm just maxing out the Greddy Type S.

so when and where is this going to happen. i think this should be a good race.
well, i think my last final is on wednesday... then i leave friday morning/afternoon for down south again..i might leave saturday morning.. i havent decided yet.. we'll figure it out when i get back
LSEGHATCH
05-08-2008, 05:32 PM
How long are you going to be down south? Just remember it has to be 80 degrees, dry, sunny, 101.325 kPA, no wind, and with the density of air at 1.2 gram per liter or I'm not going to have my car out.
I don't know where it's going to take place but if he's down there long enough I might have my new management in which means 2 step, more boost, new tune, and LSD. I'm a one wheel wonder right now.

Results are in:
Race #1 -DIG-
*Smut had me by 1.5 car lengths. My launch or lack there off really did me in. Had her held at 3.5k and my clutch nearly clunked me out when I let her go. I've never launched the car before so lesson learned. By the way I've tried to ride it but it doesn't slip, just grabs.
Race #2 -20mph Roll 1st Gear-
*LSEGHATCH not sure when he let up but it looked like he was standing still 1st through 2nd and 3rd.
All in all it was fun, who knows if we'll go at it again.
