Last year confused some folks because we switched the start time. It was originally scheduled later so Ervin could attend but after switching his shifts around an earlier time worked better. Long story short... even though we started earlier very few people showed up.

so i ordered my new bike yesterday... Trek 3700

nothing fancy, just your basic trek, aluminum frame. nothing fancy... just needed something newer than my 15year old Giant Mtn Bike. and i couldn't justify spending $600+ on the one i really wanted... when i got this for half that price. just wanted something more comfy for pedaling on around town with brad this summer. probably won't be here until mid next week, but that's ok. so i'lll make sure to hit up a few MBM's when i get into shape a little more :lol: [/img]

went in tuesday, $300. but they were closing so i said i'm come back wedsnesday. i go in wednesday, he says the price went to $350 becuase their Trek Rep was just there that morning. i'm like SAY WHAT!??!?!?! so he had to get back to me after talking to the owner about keeping the $300 since i was in there the day before. so i went to Hostelle shop and checked out the rockhoppers and schwings! but to get comparable I had to spend $400+

also, i liked the fact that Campus would install any accessories for free and sell accessories for 20% off at the time of bike purchase, Hostelle did not offer that. not to mention, if there's ever a problem i could literally walk the bike to Campus from my house for a tune up. just made sense to me.

oh, and YES they held the $300 pricetag.

there was one step up from that i could have gotten for $420, but i didn't like the colors, and probably don't really need the extra upgrades either. yes it was worth it... i just don't need it. so if anyone is looking for a nice trek, it's last years 4300 model for $420 with discs and upgraded derailers.

Hostel offered discounts on accessories when I was working there. :? Their main focus is recumbent bikes now. They were the worlds largest dealer of them when I was there, probably still are. I think we sent one to just about every country their is. lol Its amazing how many people are willing to spend 2-5k+ on a bike.

i asked about any discounts or anything if i buy some accessories with the bike, and about installing them. i was told NO on both accounts. her response was "we already sell the accessories below MSRP" which is probably true, but i cannot think of almost anyplace that doesn't sell them below MSRP. i also asked about installing them while building the bike... and she said other than lights or a water bottle holder... i am charged for installing the stuff.

which is fine.. i can understand paying for a service... that's not my concern, becuase i can install it myself for free just fine. but Campus will do it for free, saving me time. and like i said if theres ever an issue with the bike or accessories, i can litterally walk it there if needed.

i got nothing against hostelle, they were very nice. i just found a bike with the same components for less money elsewhere, that is more convieniant.

either way... i adjusted the seat and gear stuff on my current bike... and realized it's probably good enough for me. but this one is already on order for me... so i'll keep it. anyone looking for an old Mtn Bike??

it ride fine, back tire very good, almost new. brakes are good. not a bad bike... i just figured in 15yrs it got its use, and deserves to be retired in good condition. honestly, don't know why i bought a new bike really that one is fine. maybe i just figured it's time.

and i didn't figure i hurt you feelings, i was really surprised that they wouldn't do anything with the sale of a bike. i can see not discounting the accessories, but i'd almost expect them to install the Speedo for free at least with the sale of a new bike. but whatever.

I like campus .... I've purchased two bikes from them and they've always taken very good care of me.

I also like to keep my money local. I know Crapids has some nice bike shops but Campus two blocks from my house. I haven't decided whether to get a new one or not. I've got $300 in my wallet right now but for some reason I haven't been riding as much as I used to.
