Quote VPT -LS is a way bigger car with way bigger drive train components with more features and whatnot, I would hope it is a heavier car.
Auto-x's also kill auto trannies. Quote VPT.
Boy that Lincoln must have one hell of a piece of crap transmission in it. I can't think of a time in all my years of going to auto x events that anyone has blown a transmission participating.
Maybe Toyota just builds a way better car. 8)

I'll make a new one if you want, but speaking of auto trannies in auto-xing... How would a CVT transmission do, wouldn't you always be in the powerband at all times? The only thing that pops into my head is a Nissan Murano, but do any other cars someone might actually race have them?
From TSI-II
The Insight has a CVT and yes I have autocrossed it several times. In an autocross situation is sucks. Sure you are always in the powerband, but there is a huge lag between when you floor it and the car actually goes. Maybe the Nissan trans. is better in that type of situation, but I doubt it.
Well at least it's better than a Lincoln LS transmission. :?

lol Hmm I see... Just a thought. I don't quite understand how they work other than they are based on an accel and decel cone-type gearing and you never shift. So if you were making a top speed run, it just goes and hangs around 7,000 RPM (for example) and stays there until you reach the end of your gearing?

From what I understand it works somewhat like a snowmobile clutch.

They are knowen to have some problems, I don't want to take the chance. Unless someone wants to pay the bill if it goes out on the track?

Well a quick dip into Google shows us that there is 3 different types of CVTs, all of which basically are the same in that there are no actual toothed gears, but 1 uses belts, one uses frictional discs and the last uses liquid (pulley based, toroidal and hydrostatic respectively). It seems to me like always being in the powerband of the right gear all the time without shifting...
"In theory, a car with a CVT should reach 60 mph (100 km/hr) 25-percent faster than the same car with the same engine and a manual transmission."

Well you have to take into account the slippage and associated power loss of the CVT.
Autos aren't ment for racing. Theya re made for grandma and grandpa to ride around town with.

i was out ALL summer last year... you never showed. i was downtown and raced a number of 1/4 miles without your bitch ass, and we all know you backed down from some real races with your "performance grandma car" at shawano, etc. any car can go in a straight line, performance or not. so don't call that POS LS a performance luxury car if it cannot turn.
you're out of luck guy. you missed your chance(s). besides, your all talk anyways... when it's crunch time you'll use some lame excuse as usual.
LOL out of chances? Sounds like your the one making excusses. I gave my reasons for not beating on the car on a road coarse. You just keep bring that up as me backing down because you know I won't take it on a coarse.
I was also out a few times with the LS this last summer and raced. I'll be ready whenever your ready to sac up for the 1/4 this sumer.

VPT - isn't it too cold? What other "original" excuses can you come up with. LOL
Your Lincoln races about as much as your sled does.
No excusses. The LS is ready whenever that toyota is ready for a 1/4 mile beat down.

LMAO again! The 1/4 was the only thing I was willing to show up for and I did and did again and again but no toyota. Than out of the blue with no post on the internet or call or anything you come downtown with your car and are like dude where is your car? Not here? oh well see you later.....
Soooo, lets set up a date like first saturday in april or some shit that you will actual show up for and race. Will the first saturday in april work for you or are you having a manacure and face cleansing that day?

You can talk the talk VPT, but when it's crunch time you almost always have some excuse to not compete.

i'll have to check my schedule.
but first you have to stop calling that grandma car a "performance luxury car" considering it cannot turn!! hell... you can throw a turd in a straight line... and i'm guessing that's what its like everytime you get behind the wheel of that LS. just driving a big turd down a straight line.
Yup, can't turn to save its life.
