Acording to the tach you don't have enough gear for 145.

Quick google stuff:
"...it was a no-brainer for Toyota to combine the well-liked Altezza with a 215-horsepower version of the six-cylinder engine that powers the GS300. The resulting straight-line performance is really worthwhile--0 to 60 in just over seven seconds and a top speed of 144 mph."
Not that 1 mph matters, that's still fuckin cruizin.
See I knew there wasn't enough gear there for 145!

what speedometer isn't off by a few MPH??? i've personally seen 145 more than once on that speedometer. doesn't mean it'd radar at that speed, i understand that... but it's damc close.
and VPT you shouldn't talk too much smack... i NEVER ONCE SAW YOU SHOW UP for the luxury class competitions... that poor little lincoln is just scairt. it's ok to bow out when you know you can't win. but then keep your trap shut. actually, this is the ONLY luxury car in town that has been on the track and out racing... without failure. that other "luxury" truck/suv just wasn't reliable enough and had to be sold as well. i did see it race ONCE, but that must have been a good night when it was running.

I love what you do for me, toyota. And the jump with the legs kicked off to the side.
I am pretty sure Kurt was disqualified from the luxury car race. Toyota's are not luxurious nor do they go 145mph.
Like I said before I was out racing a few times this last summer with the LS "toyota killer" and there was no camrys to be found. I raced little jonny's b16 hatch, I raced crazzy jonny (I believe) out at the spot. I've raced a TT (not Austin). The only racing I haven't done and I won't do with the LS is auto-xing.
We have been threw this many many times before I said time and time again I W I L L race you all you want 1/4 mile, but I will not beat the living shit out of the family car at an auto-x. I have more than plenty of other cars around here for that.
Sooo, are you going to sac up this year and line up with the v8 "toyota killer" or are you going to continue dancing around and avoiding the 1/4 all together?

because parts are not cheap, tires are not cheap, brakes are not cheap. Oh yah and its the family car....
Tanks like toyotas are made of steel, the LS is built out of aluminum guy.
Dizmm, (Old Account)
01-19-2008, 11:23 AM
Lexus IS300 = 3285lbs
Lincoln LS = 3593lbs
Must be heavy aluminum :?
tires and brakes and parts are probably just as expensive for the IS as the Lincoln. One auto-x will not kill a set of brake pads or a set of tires. and Auto-x is like 100 miles of city driving.

and regarding dizmms post... i must agree, that's some heavy aluminum there to weigh 300lbs more!!

LS is a way bigger car with way bigger drive train components with more features and whatnot, I would hope it is a heavier car.
Auto-x's also kill auto trannies.

This might be threadjacking, I'll make a new one if you want, but speaking of auto trannies in auto-xing... How would a CVT transmission do, wouldn't you always be in the powerband at all times? The only thing that pops into my head is a Nissan Murano, but do any other cars someone might actually race have them?
On second thought, I'll keep it a little bit on topic, here's a picture from my hotel room when I was on the Gulf last week:

Sorry I don't know you guys well enough to know all the vehicles driven. I'll be the arbitrator here...
Are we talking about a Lincoln LS? I understand we're talking about a Lexus IS300...
A Lincoln LS is a big car made for middle-aged golfers that want to feel like they have a sporty car. The IS300 is for younger gen people that want a sporty car with some sophistication. These are the para-phrased demographics these companies were aiming for with these cars and built them accordingly.
If these cars are modified somehow, that's something else. But otherwise it's like comparing titanium to dentures...
Cars are made for specific purposes, the LS isn't made to be a real sports car and the IS300 isn't made to be a top speed monster. The S4 isn't made to be a race car either. They're just street cars made for a specific group of douchebags (us).
This thread was for sharing on your guys trip... I'd like to see more of that and more pictures, please. :)

Why would they waste so much technology and money on an all aluminum independant (like the vette) suspension for the LS if it wasn't ment to be a "real" sports car? If that was the case they should have just built the LS body on a crown vic chassis and saved about 10K a car.
Dizmm, (Old Account)
01-19-2008, 12:18 PM
An independent rear suspension will over better ride quality. I dought the lincoln was designed as a "real" sports car. BUT if that car was built as a "real" sports car, then thats what you should use it for.
More pictures to come...

that's about the one thing we actually do have on our "to do" list, new orleans is approx 3 hours away... we will probably hit that up early this week. we debated going there for the night tonight, but are going to check out Pensacola instead... 35mins away... will grab food there and check what there is to do at night as well.
last night we listened to some band from Birmingham down at a local place, Live Bait. they were ok. more people out on the dance floor when they took a break and the dj played some hiphop... but whatever. they got better after their break. the place seemed fairly slow for a friday night, considering Nashville was PACKED on a thurs night. then again, nashville is about 20x the population of this place. but it's all good. live music, people to watch, etc... all in good fun.
ok. leaving for Pensacola soon i guess. probably more pics for you later on Ragdoll

after the fight, about 11:30, we went over to the Seville Quarter, the premier nightclub in pensacola. it was CRAZY!! it took up a full 2 blocks... all covered under one roof, about 7 different places in one. A grand total of $400 in two days??? I think that is more like it.
I spent a total of $160 so far, and that was including all the grociers we bought the first day and going out to eat for the first few days. Now that we have grociers and a full kitchen, we should not have to spend too much more.

Can I put a down payment on my spot for next year? hell yes!! we were talking about that today. we should get a group of people to rent this place next year. should be pretty cheap for 6-9 people. definetly cooler if there were more people we knew down here, but still beats your negative temps!
VPT... yeah, not a lot of activity here this time of year it seems. mostly locals and some older folks aka snow birds. there is definetly people out and about in town, shops, etc... just not on the beach this time of year.

Saturday night when we went to Pensacola we had a combined total of $80 spent. $40 on food, $5 per person cover to watch the trinidad vs Jones boxing fight, then about $30 out at the Seville Quarter Club.
Jones was from Pensacola and it was a pay-per-view fight so it was a big thing at the place we ate.

I was down there probably a few weeks after you Helby, and seeing boats crashed through houses and shit washed up a few hundred feet from the shoreline is a crazy sight. Scary to think people would want to stay home and try and make it through the storm.
Kind of a side story:
My cousin and her husband live on the AirForce base down by Pensacola and whenever they evacuate the area because of a storm or whatever, EVERYONE on base gets a military charge card and they have a minimum distance and a certian amount of days to be away from the area. They can use the card for any expense incurred while they were gone, so most of them turn it into a vacation... Expensive restaurants every night, great hotels, all for free. And we get to pay for it... lol.

well, we got an EARLY start to today's travels... as in about 9 hours early... we got bored at 11pm so we packed up and left before midnight.
this was spotted alongside the road in some little hick town
http://cwscc.com/images/vac/CIMG0852.JPG
coincidence.... or vandelism? hahaha
at the one stopsign in town before that building, a drunk was driving through the intersection right out from the bar, barely making it in his manual transmission, and had NO headlights on... the cops were close behind to pull him over! (we were taking the pic when the cop snagged him!)

I think that is why he has to wait for Rach to get a job there so Him, his son, and Rach all move out there.

Isiah would stay here for school etc...summer spend in Hawaii with me for whatever length of time. I think it would be a pretty sweet deal for him to be able to spend that timein a placelike that and experiance all those great things up close...all the enviromental stuff...beachs..surfing..snorkaling...history...al l that. but we shall see.
Wish I could have gotten to go places when I was a kid..

Hmm it's 55* and sunny today in KC. Supposed to go above 60* tomorrow. No snow, no salt, it's good. I haven't seen many cars like you guys did... We were next to a turbo 350Z on the highway, but I couldn't grab my phone quick enough to snap the FMIC. My sister just bought an '06 VW and the salesman took us out in the R32, which was fuckin sweet. I'll be driving back tomorrow afternoon, at least it isn't below zero anymore up there.

I have been around plenty, that is not the reason I don't like to travel. I think it cost way to much money to travel or go on vacations.

we're are home now... got home about 7. would have been home sooner, but we stopped to pick up some car parts in Union Grove on the way back, then ate in Milw as well
thankfully my neighbors snowblowed my driveway!! and it's cool that it's in the upper 20's, and we we missed all that freezing cold shit you guys had last week.
